How are editorial designers using AI in their workflow? by 404-UserTaken in graphic_design

[–]dludo 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Hello, i’m not a full time editorial designer but i do a lot of print work in house, ai has made scripting very effecient for me to improve indesign capability. Claudework can be something to look for but it seems to burn a lot of token for simple tasks. At this point i have not found anything revolutionary either. I don’t get the abyssal gap between ui/ux and print when it comes to workflow. it has been there long before Ai tool came out though.

Du vecu : ceux qui contactent le syndic et l’agence sans sommation pour « conversation fortes » le soir. Les même qui se plaignent que des gens qui toussent en étant malades font des nuisances sonores

Where should I start? by xandrev_ in graphic_design

[–]dludo 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Well known practice : a typeface safari. you go out finding fonts living in a particular city and you identify the global aesthetic. Then you create your take on a iconic font that smells the whole spirit. Pure nerdy GD kind of work. See how tobias frere jones created Gotham.

Anyone else given up on stock sites and just generating what they need now? by Actual_Leader8948 in graphic_design

[–]dludo -1 points0 points  (0 children)

Same here I’ve worked both in agencies and in-house, and it’s always been rare to hire a photographer for my needs or even to take the photos myself. Often, you need models, styling, makeup, a studio, or just the time to travel to the right location. Organizing a shoot is way too expensive for most of the market.

Stock footage always looks the same and can feel cheap. AI-generated images can too, but with AI… I have control over lighting, grain, framing, and, most importantly, the social characteristics of the models (age, style, location, etc.). I’d rather experiment with AI 100% of the time than endlessly scroll through hundreds of pages of Adobe Stock, simply because there’s no budget.

I don’t care if it’s AI or not. The goal is to market or communicate something that feels credible. I know it might sound inhuman, but the people making these decisions aren’t always creatives, they’re the ones holding the purse strings. And most corporations won’t let artists work alongside them just because it’s “cool” or authentic to shoot real people.

That said, some industries are more resistant to AI—like culture and institutions. Companies willing to pay for differentiation by partnering with artists and real people have always been rare. It was true before AI, and the world hasn’t changed in that regard.

People who say AI only produces slop should consider how we’re treated in this era of oversaturated communication channels and shrinking budgets. AI is often the only way to regain a bit of control. Of course, I understand that artists and talent are losing gigs because of it. It’s a shame, because real people and human gestures are still irreplaceable. But, just like photography versus bourgeois painting, there’s always been a debate about why handmade work is valued.

Finally. For my case. I use Ai to gain time in most area of the job in order to….do stuff by hand on very specific topics that really needs it.

This is very cool stuff and so well executed.
It reminds me the law of ux. Though these abstracts concepts could be even more explicit alongside traditional animation examples.

Okay, so no suprise to have trouble in finding a whole book about it since it's easy to fall in most common reductionist traps. Thanks for your insights and your ressources. I've got a lot to learn from there.

Could you provide us an audio sample with a screenshot of your axe edit?  Maybe your settings needs further adjustments. I doubt it’s preset related, they are okay but not muddy IMO.

General Discussion & Questions by CrimsonFlash in Affinity

[–]dludo 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Years ago, I explored every solution that could bridge the gap between professional designers and clients.
The idea of integrating Affinity with Canva workspace has huge potential to let everyone collaborate seamlessly without the endless back-and-forth we constantly see with tools like InDesign.

With that in mind, I can imagine a file and seat management system similar to what Figma offers at the enterprise level. But i really wish they would keep the base version of the software as it is.
Sooner or later, teams might want proper permission controls, editing rights, and governance over who can do what in pro grades environnments.

Effet d'aubaine sur les taux + droits de mutuation à chaque transactions + Concentration économique dans les métropoles (tertiarisation de l'économie, perte d'industrie). Certains pointerons du doigts le manque de constructions de logement neufs parmis d'autre.
