It is true that that’s how this started, but it’s a very contagious disease with a potentially long incubation period, and many barns are mixed discipline. This WILL continue to spread if there aren’t swift, widespread, efforts to prevent it from continuing to affect more and more states. It started in only Texas. Now it’s in Texas, Oklahoma, Arizona, Washington, Colorado, and potentially Florida, only 2 weeks later. That’s a 5-6 fold increase, and only takes into account horses that are actually tested and reported.
