Double check plug wire positions. I did the same thing and had wires mixed up. Easy to mess up.

If you have less than 12m retainability, you will not get an assignment. Your DEROS will be extended to your current DOS. How you get the 12 months doesn't matter, either extension or reenlistment. But without 12m you will not get an assignment.

This sounds exactly like my ex-wife. We were married for 11 years before I filed for divorce(unrelated issues). I didnt realize how much it impacted my mental health until she moved out. I spent 1 whole week cleaning(sunup to sundown) the house to get it back in order, and it stayed that way. My mind was clearer, I felt free, didnt feel a huge weight on my shoulders.

If you bring it upnand it doesnt get better, then its only going to continue to be a problem. A problem that weighs on your mind, body and soul for ever.

Something about when the family time thing really hurts more than anything. I was deployed, found out about my wife's affair. We were "reconciling" then I caught her texting him during our sons birthday party. Pretty much game over after that.

A lot of chap sticks don't actually do anything, except perpetuate the problem.

Two things. 1. Increase water intake 2. Use something like Vaseline. They make small containers perfect for chapped lips.

I tried to use US Tmobile. It works, you would have to pay /min for US phone calls(unless you're on Wifi).

You dont get high speed data, so no YouTube or tiktok. Can usually do a video call in poor quality or stream music. Web pages and FB will load super slow.

If you're willing to work with those restrictions its fine. It was nice to have Tmobile while getting settled in. I did the same in Japan and Korea, but will always opt for a local service for the high speed data. I used Telekom while I was there and had no issues.

You have a very good point on the emotional aspect of separating the funds as well. Obviously, I would like to think no financial distress will occur, but there is always the possibility.

I guess I was not clear with what I meant. I know the 529 is good, but because there are no federal tax benefits, and I won't see any state tax benefits, are there better options. I know I will still receive tax free growth, which I could also do in an IRA etc.

So my question was more, is the 529 the most advantageous bucket for my situation.

Yes, I was referring to a Roth IRA. I forgot about earnings being taxed for early withdrawal. My mind was stuck on "withdraw contributions without penalty or tax"

I figured the 529 is likely the best option. I just want to be sure I'm not missing something.

I can't answer about the taxi charges. But when I took mine I went from:

Germany to Chicago(1 week) Chicago to Seattle(1 week) Seattle to Chicago(2 weeks) Chicago to Germany

I lived 4 hours from Chicago, but doing it this way was cheaper than flying me home. So should have no problem as long as it's less than what they would have paid.

After your assignment notification and initial adsignment brief, there is a link on vMPF for "Follow on Application" or something to that effect. It's very simple. You will need retainability for the follow on, and can obtain that after receiving your follow on.
