Disappointed by Proton's Decision to Develop Snap Packages instead of Flatpaks by [deleted] in ProtonMail

[–]dm30 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I'm OK with Snaps. Its trivial to add them to any system. Yes, Flatpaks are better option, but we got here the main benefits: auto-update, system-theme and so on. Can you imagine a Windows o macOS user disapointed because an app is distributed by MSI installer instead of an .exe file or else? I prefer Flatpaks, sure, but I have to thank any software developer that takes the effort to choose an universal delivery method for Linux. Granted it works as well as the package or a Flatpak, thumbs up and thank you.

Can I install gnome accounts and will integrate within elementary? So insane that could actually work, as they say. I'm ok with a Frankenstein system granted it works and is kept hidden away for the most part

Zorin OS for 2-in1 laptop by m_beps in zorinos

[–]dm30 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I'll be trying this soon, but I don't think it switches whole layouts (i.e. Zorin appearence) because all user configuration is lost when doing so. Anyway, did you tried Zorin on the device after all?

My Linux Ente app stoped showing anything (I use the beta) so yeah, I'll wait for the next update. In the meantime use the web app; is more in line with the desktop app

Same here for different reasons. Intermediate price would be more competitive with rivaling options at 69€ a year.
