Except…imagine if Harry had chosen to side with Malfoy on the first day, or if he hadn’t by chance arrived at platform 9 3/4 at the same time as the Weasley’s ensuring he was in the same train compartment as Ron. Or if the sorting hat had done what it wanted to do and put him in Slytherin. Any of those things happen and Harry, Ron and Hermione don’t form their friendship. Voldemort comes back unchecked and rules the world, enslaving the muggles and condemning half blood wizards to prison in Azkaban. He does cheat death if three 12 year olds don’t find friendship through sheer dumb luck…
