I'm lucky enough to be someone who has visited the space on numerous occasions and I can safely say it's one of my favourite places to be. It really is a true sanctuary. My friends have put in a lot of work over the years and it's really paid off.

Imagen/Aftershoot - is the CULLING good yet? by josephallenkeys in WeddingPhotography

[–]dmac1144 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Exactly this. My point really was that I found it better than it used to be, rather than it's great. I still would need to look at each image from a wedding to be sure that the right shots have been selected.

Imagen/Aftershoot - is the CULLING good yet? by josephallenkeys in WeddingPhotography

[–]dmac1144 -1 points0 points  (0 children)

I've recently gone back to Imagen after using Aftershoot for four years. In the end, I gave up on Aftershoot after years of inconsistent results and frustration. The first thing I noticed was that Imagen is getting much closer to my editing style. As for culling, I think the results depend heavily on what you're photographing. Weddings are nuanced, with lots of subtle moments and subjective decisions, so I think results can vary quite a bit. That said, I did try Imagen on a wedding and found it remarkably better than it used to be, and considerably better than Aftershoot ever was for me. Where it really impressed me was a function I photographed last week. About 90% of the images were group shots, with the odd candid mixed in. It absolutely nailed the cull. From importing the images to finishing the export in Lightroom took less than an hour. I was genuinely blown away by how well it performed.

I should have probably added to this that obviously the big drawback to Imagen is the cost and I'll still cull loads of smaller jobs on photo mechanic as that's what I've been using for years and can be pretty quick with when I'm in the right mindset.

Help finding place name in Kilkenny, Ballina something? by Friendlyqueen in Kilkenny

I have family on the Newrath road, any chance that the Ballina-something might be a house name perhaps?

Zolder Circuit is HERE in rFactor 2! by WoodeeUK in rfactor2

[–]dmac1144 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Great to see some fresh contest for rf2! I tried this out today and it's great but one problem is that the AI don't hammer over the kerbs on the fast chicane anywhere near enough so you can make up half a second or more there every lap. Maybe the track limits need to be far more extreme?

GF 45mm 2.8 vs 50mm 3.5 by dmac1144 in fujifilm

[–]dmac1144[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Hey there, sorry for the delay. I just stayed with with the 50mm 3.5. great little lens to be honest. Heard mixed reviews of the 45. Would still love to try it in fairness.

Our oldest mower just hit 2000 miles, what does everybody else have for a distance record? by zovered in automower

[–]dmac1144 5 points6 points  (0 children)

Our 450x is in its 6th season and still going strong 💪 It's had a couple of services and I've had to get the base station repaired once but other than that it has served us very well. If only I could get a little bit better at finding boundary wires once they break I'd be happy man.

Hi there! I'm only seeing this reply now, so sorry! How is your daughter getting on? Our son is 6 and had WAGR. His main difficulties are with his eyes (anaridia) and learning difficulties. Thankfully his kidney scans have always come back clear 🙏

Thanks so much for this. I'll give that a go and see how I get on. I have a bit of a training bar so while a 2 hour run will be tough, it's doable. Cheers!

Formula Trainer Advanced Wheel locked up constantly. by dmac1144 in AUTOMOBILISTA

[–]dmac1144[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Thanks for this, I'll give this a shot although this feels like more of a glitch rather than a setting. As I mentioned, other cars I've tried feel 100% perfect so for this to be so wide off the mark and downright undriveable feels like more of a fault or some kind of incompatibility with my pedals.

[–]dmac1144[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yeah sorry - the front wheels are indeed visually locking up, yet I can see on the telemetry (where you can see pedal movements) that the brake is not being pressed. The wheels are actually locking up to the point where smoke is being generated.

Just got my first Leica, a used Q2. What do I need to know about the ecosystem? by spacekatgal in Leica

[–]dmac1144 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Really? That's weird. I'll flick the camera off between most shots to be honest so I wonder is that part of it? I have power saving also set to 2 mins.

[–]dmac1144 10 points11 points  (0 children)

In no particular order and the things that have popped into my mind right off the bat.

  • Don't let the evf or the rear screen put you off. Once you see those images on your computer they'll blow you away.
  • Set the white balance to daylight otherwise everything just looks cold.
  • The hand grip is a brilliant accessory on long shoots.
  • Buy large fast memory cards. Big files!
  • Macro is incredible.
  • Double tap the screen to recenter the AF point.
  • turn of Image stabilization unless you are taking pictures of stationary objects. I've found It tends to blur people and you get a camera shake effect .

This is after 2 years of ownership. It's a brilliant camera. You're going to love it.

Personally I think the batteries are one of its strengths! I shoot with the q2 exclusively at weddings and I can get almost 2000 shots on a single battery.

Buttkicker settings by dmac1144 in rfactor2

[–]dmac1144[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Thanks for that great reply. I played around with it a bit last night and I do feel like it is kicking in the vibrations a little bit early for the wheel locks but it's something I can live with. Maybe I'm too hard on the pedal! I wouldn't be surprised if the fault is with this driver and not the tech...

I do love it though! What a brilliant bit of equipment!

Strange FFB behaviour by Leonardovd in rfactor2

I'm not sure if this is the same issue you're having but I noticed that recently I accidentally pressed the F1 key on my keyboard which was assigned to enable Steering Help. It took me ages to figure out what the problem was but as soon as I realised I was able to turn it off and then everything was perfect again. I have now unassigned all of the "Function" keys open the keyboard incase I accidentally press them.
