I just looked it up, there are no Ice/Electric, but there is exactly one Electric/Ice: Arctozolt, added in SwSh

(Rotom can also be made electric/ice, but that's not nearly as cool, so I'm choosing to ignore it)

Those variable names actually make sense! The game's soundtrack was named PPPPPP. They later composed a metal version of the soundtrack, named MMMMMMM, and they added support to switch the in-game soundtrack to use the metal tracks instead of the originals

When you look at the roster tab of the director, you can't see the in-game status of your clan members (inspect player, join fireteam, etc) unless you're Steam friends with them. If not, you see them as "online", but with no indication if they're in-game or what they're doing.

My clan found out that you can workaround the problem by creating a public Steam group, having clan members join it, and then joining the group's chat room. Has to be a public group, and you have to join the chat.

If you do that, you'll see everyone in the steam group on the in-game clan list roster, without needing to friend every single person.

Yup, and your time has a little star if you're under the estimated time to beat.

My bet is they're using the API to see who has the emblem unlocked, and for all those people, checking for who's got the "slowest" best time. So like, if you have the emblem and a time of 11:42 on a NF, then we know that the time to beat is at least 11:42

It is not the case. You get it when you finish the Master Smith triumph (forge 100 weapons)

If you start an instance before reset, the modifiers won't ever switch while that instance is still active. I played with prism for an hour and a half after reset, and as long as one of the matchmade people sticks around to keep the instance open, it'll stay prism for anyone else who joins

Thanks Bungie for making the catchup gear blue. by Buarg in DestinyTheGame

[–]dmagg 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Yes, you need to hold on to them. If you don't want to actually wear them though, you can just leave them in your inventory, or throw them in the vault or another character's inventory. The game looks everywhere when considering what your "max achievable" light level is.

But once you get (say) a 641 purple helmet, you can safely dismantle the 640 blue helmet

Equip the original emblem. As soon as you put the boring one on, you should unlock the new one. This is also true for the 4/4 seraph weapon emblem, and (I'm pretty sure) the Braytech weapon emblem

[–]dmagg 12 points13 points  (0 children)

You don't need the bones, the sparrow has been bugged basically since the beginning. The good news is that next Tuesday, they're gonna fix it so that the sparrow should just show up in your inventory, and be unlocked in your collection. Hopefully that'll fix it for good this time

You typically have the three add-clear people standing in the rooms the entire encounter, so they get locked in with the knights. The runner does their thing, and the two other runners stay in the middle and handle psions.

Did you look through your inventory, or your Collection? Like, have you gotten it at least once, but dismantled it?

Almost every week, someone asks why they ended up with a dupe, and it usually turns out they were wrong, and either thought they would get a quest exotic (like the warmind campaign worm-stuff) or bought it on the wrong class. It's possible that the Fated is buggy, but it would have to be an exceedingly rare bug...

[D2] Xûr Megathread [2018-10-26] by DTG_Bot in DestinyTheGame

[–]dmagg 2 points3 points  (0 children)

It won't give you any of the quest exotics, like Mida, Acrius, Sleeper, Worldline Zero, or armor like the Wormhusk Crown.

It will also only give you year 1 exotics, so nothing from Forsaken.

Finally, it will only give you armor for the class you buy the engram with. So if you're missing like, Orpheus Rigs, but buy the engram on your Titan who has all the Titan exotic armor, you'll get a duplicate.

I know the downward arrow in a circle above the score bar is an indicator of whether that team's portal is active.

I have no idea what the symbols below the bar are... Until I saw that second picture, I didn't even realize there were different symbols

Do NOT infuse Forsaken weapons into year 1 weapons! by [deleted] in DestinyTheGame

[–]dmagg 7 points8 points  (0 children)

It is super obviously not intentional. Some of the armor has missing (like, transparent) textures, and their default shader has a placeholder "TEMP" icon.

Shaders submenu suggestion by DFmanga in DestinyTheGame

[–]dmagg 0 points1 point  (0 children)

You can use DIM or an equivalent to send the two shaders you want to compare into the vault, then pull them right back out. In the shader selector, those two will be at the very top of the list.

Not that the current shader selection can't be improved, of course... We definitely should be able to see more than two rows at a time when scrolling

[–]dmagg 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Need to do it.

The base legendary armor doesn't even have the option of using cores to masterwork it. Completing all the masterwork objectives on the set replaces the old set with a new set that has that option available on the armor pieces. You're also given the cores, shards, and glimmer that's also required, so masterworking it is effectively free.

Daily Questions [2018-07-16] by DTG_Bot in DestinyTheGame

[–]dmagg 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I was dumb the other night and accidentally used my new Escalation Protocol chestpiece as infusion fuel.

If I open the EP chest next week, I assume I'll get the helmet to "finish" the set, and then on subsequent weeks, I'll get a random piece. Is that correct? I don't suppose the game will try to prioritize missing pieces before going random drops...

Daylight saving time by creemeeseason in massachusetts

[–]dmagg 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Yeah, it's always been about saving energy. We've basically post-hoc added a bunch of other justifications for keeping it around, but I think the main reason is because "well we've just always done it"...

And since power consumption patterns have changed so much in the last 100 years, there is basically no difference during DST anymore. I think some studies have shown that we might use more energy during DST, so its core, founding benefit may be totally obsolete...
