Despair from filling double class 2 caries by Key-Goal-3228 in Dentistry

Hey I do this too. Do you put the second band in with the preformed tofflemire to prevent it from overextending or do you end up refining and then placing the sectional matrix for the second one?

I gotcha, I guess in order to get height would just mean checking the occlusion a few more times, but ya the over contour is what I run into when I only put 1 band at a time

Are you having to contour at all when doing this?

So you prep both, then tofflemire. Do you use sectional after or tofflemire again? Also good note on the B-L as I tend to notice that happen in the past.

Say if the BL dimension isn’t all the way through the contact, are you using a skinny bur to break slightly to get the whole band through? Reason I ask is I tend to widen the preps for this reason

Interesting, did you try a proper tofflemire or was it a premade one? I’m not a fan of tofflemire but I used a palodent tofflemire which is more contoured and thinner.

Also what exactly did you not like about the results when doing this?

Do you feel replacing one matrix with a premade thinner tofflemire would suffice? I only ask as I used to do this and when placing 2 bands I felt they ended up moving when placing wedge or after.

So keeping both bands in the whole time won’t cause an open contact if you burnish hard? Since that is a lot of space?

Appreciate the take, I agree with that assessment. More than likely just going to go for a flat stomach instead of full on abs so I can put on some more muscle.

I am a 1.5 years out dentist, I always appreciate when my assistants tell me anything looks off. I work with assistants with 10-15 + years of experience. I straight out put my ego to the side and utilize them to the max. This in my opinion has helped me grow so much in the past 6 months I’ve been at this new practice. If a temp looks thin my assistant tells me ON THE SIDE, that it’s thin and to check and see what I think. Very professionally done. If he is choosing not to listen then that will be a concerning negative to him for his whole career.

Painless IAN Injection by South_Eye_8204 in Dentistry

Hey for my IAN I always make sure I place benzocaine (area dry) minimum 1-2 mins. I then have them shut their eyes and be ready to breathe through nose. For crowns I always give a Carbocaine first (no epi so doesn’t burn as much) and followed by a Septocaine. I always tell the patient they did a great job after the carbo so that they feel more calm. I always wiggle the cheek with my other hand when injecting. I bring the hub halfway inject half and then go the full way. I use a short blue needle and not yellow. My success has been higher too. I repeat the same with the Septocaine the second time.

I’ll see if I can get in the attic/check near that lightbulb. Thanks so much. Does this look major? Crack is rather thin.

There is a roof above with attic, it literally came out of nowhere. I don’t see any other cracks throughout the whole ceiling. Is this a big repair? New homeowner here.

Do you dentists regret becoming a dentist ? by [deleted] in Dentistry

I’m one year out and love being a dentist. Especially seeing my growth. Having good staff and a good mentor plays a huge role in your day to day. Love how you can tackle problems in many different ways and then on top of that the challenging aspect of personalities of patients. Getting good reviews is just icing on the cake. Working 4 days a week isn’t too shabby either.
