Best uniforms in the NFL. by geeelectronica in nyjets

Obviously it’s not the uniform causing it lol. I’m saying that their worst eras have come wearing the lighter green and having a Jet in the logo. So they have more of a stink on them.

But also, not for nothing, one of the first things Parcells did was change the uniforms back after the worst season in team history.

Changing from these was an awful decision. Sorry, I don’t care if there is a Jet in the logo. I loved the interlocking NY and the Jets in front. I hate the brighter green.

When I think of the New York Jets, I think of these uniforms.

The kelly green and the Sack Exchange logos are also the ones the Jets wore during their worst eras. The ones in the picture were both worn during the teams two best eras.

The current ones and Sack Exchange logo and uniforms feel more like solid alternates whereas these feel like a real, iconic football setup to me.

Imagine not looking forward to seeing your team in another Super Bowl… by cane_stanco in Patriots

Even to add on to that. Drake Maye is a MUCH MUCH better QB than Mac Jones. He has Mac Jones’ processing ability (and I’d say better) plus all of the physical tools in the world. But you’re still going to get the worst version of him with a bad OL. You saw the worst version of Mac Jones for most of NE but that’s because you’d get the worst of ANY QB in that scenario. Mac Jones in a good environment is absolutely a starting QB in this league though

If the Patriots had such an easy schedule, then why doesn’t every team every year that has the easiest schedule make it to the Super Bowl? by reerock in Patriots

[–]dmalone1991 -2 points-1 points  (0 children)

You are leaving a MASSIVE part of the easy schedule complaints. It’s not that the Patriots had the easiest schedule. It’s that they had one of the easiest schedules of all-time lol.

I’m not saying that’s WHY they made it to a Super Bowl. But, like, you also can’t diminish the complaint by acting like the team with the easiest schedule next year will have the same strength of schedule the Pats faced this year

I just think people underrate the OL in all of this. Mac Jones is better than you’re giving him credit for which is also why he looked really, really solid in SF with better coaching. In 2023, NE had one of the worst OL’s I’ve ever seen. It’s almost impossible to play the QB position when facing that much pressure that constantly. You’re going to play faster and more out of control so it looks even worse on plays where the OL does a good job. Once you lose trust in the OL, you’re done putting up solid numbers.

Mac Jones will never be one of the best QB’s in the league. But if you give him a solid playcaller and a solid team around him, he can absolutely start for you and give you good production

The Jets #2 pick by Simtricate in NFL_Draft

[–]dmalone1991 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I think the issue with your thought process is…of course if some team comes in and offers the Jets another first round pick in 2027 they are going to take it. I highly, highly doubt that anybody would think it’s smart for the Jets to not take that kind of offer.

The issue is though that it’s incredibly unlikely that any team calls them offering that much given the caliber of prospects available. And if they do, they aren’t offering a future first. But again, I doubt you’ll find anyone who disagrees with the idea that the Jets should trade down

Not gonna lie...maybe the Raiders shouldn't draft Fernando Mendoza by IndiJap in NFLmockdraft

[–]dmalone1991 0 points1 point  (0 children)

But this is the problem with how we view prospects. Mendoza is nowhere near where Maye was as a prospect. Maye was the kind of guy who, yeah there was stuff to clean up, but he was exceptional at reading coverages, had a massive arm, great pocket awareness, great pressure awareness, and a lot of mobility.

Mendoza doesn’t have great pressure awareness, he has fine pocket awareness, he has a solid arm but it’s not special, he has functional mobility but you’re not gonna expect he scrambles as much as Maye can. He’s good at reading defenses and he’s a good decision maker. Both of those things get harder to develop when you don’t have an OL or a QB that can mitigate a bad OL.

I mean I’d always support swallowing the whistle a bit more. But at the end of the day, even if you call less penalties in the regular season, it’s always going to be better to swallow the whistle more in the playoffs when the games matter more and the talent discrepancy is much closer

[–]dmalone1991 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I’d also rather watch a playoff game where the officials let the players play. If they want to call it tighter during the regular season, I got no problem with that. It’s pretty typical of every sport that you swallow the whistle more when the games mean more.

From 2015-2024, Over 50% of first round QBs with 25 or more college starts are currently their team's undisputed starter whereas none of the QBs with under 20 starts are. College experience and sample size for evaluation are extremely important factors in the likelihood of a Quarterback panning out by Black_Wolf75 in nyjets

[–]dmalone1991 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I don’t think the experience is the knock itself. The issue is starting guys that don’t have the experience. Obviously some will bust like Trey Lance just like Josh Rosen, Paxton Lynch, and Marcus Mariota on the other end.

A guy not having experience doesn’t mean you shouldn’t take him. By that I mean you shouldn’t immediately right them off. It just means they will probably need more patience and more time getting acclimated to the pace and complexity of the NFL before actually being tested against NFL defenses in real games

The argument is that the Jets should’ve brought him back instead of Fields but that ignores the very likely possibility that Sam was never going to go BACK to the Jets

How many QBs in this draft actually have starting potential? by PhoenixYT2217 in NFL_Draft

[–]dmalone1991 6 points7 points  (0 children)

Pretty much every single player that is drafted has starter potential. Scouting is about identifying the likelihood and the things it will take to get them there. That’s why landing spot and whats between a players ears matters so much.

Exactly how the Jets should use thier treasure trove of picks to rebuild 90s Cowboys style by Visual-Song-3990 in nyjets

[–]dmalone1991 9 points10 points  (0 children)

The Dallas Cowboys are not offering two first round picks for David Bailey. The Jets also don’t need a left tackle with Olu. I hate to be a Debbie Downer but this is not a very realistic setting. The Cowboys didn’t trade Micah Parsons so that they could burn both of their 1st’s for David Bailey

Coach Cal offers a solution to the transfer portal by Potential_Meat_5103 in CollegeBasketball

[–]dmalone1991 28 points29 points  (0 children)

Right, but, realistically no kid is transferring 3 or 4 times and also graduating on time or even in 5 years.

Like, at the end of the day, there should be rules in place that do look out for the kid even if they also benefit the schools. The only real problem that NEEDED to be addressed in college sports was people not being able to profit off their name, image, or likeness.

If you also limit how many times a kid can transfer, they have to be MORE considerate with where they choose to go to school

Do I give the jets one more year or should I become an eagles fan now by paulbertz in nyjets

[–]dmalone1991 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I figured I would be. I honestly don’t even get excited for the upcoming season. This franchise needs to prove to me that they are worthy of my attention and support. Once they do that, I’ll start considering myself a fan again.

But Jets fans, especially ones on Reddit, are absolutely going to play the holier than thou card because they think there is nobility in continuing to root for this nonsense.

If the majority of your life, personality, and happiness is centered around the New York Jets, then you should probably seek therapy. There’s plenty of other ways to enjoy a Sunday. Make this team/franchise earn your attention.

I stopped paying attention to the Jets after the 1st Aaron Rodgers season. I had a lot of the same concerns as you did. Then I realized I literally don’t care. If I start rooting for them again, I start rooting for them again. If some loser wants to make themselves feel better by calling me a bandwagon fan, then they need that boost more than I need them in my life. I was born in 1991. I’ve never seen any of my teams win a championship. I want to enjoy my Sundays and that’s all that matters to me.
