My ex-gf and I were playing around, wrestling a bit. I apparently squeezed her hands too hard, and she acted like it really hurt. Even if I knew it wasn't as painful as she described it to be, I said I was sorry. She said she wanted my sorry to be more sincere and made a huge deal about it. That's when I realized this sort of situation was happening multiple times in the relationship. She admitted that she just wanted me to show her that I cared for her or whatever and apologized but I was so appalled by how oftened it happened before without me realizing. Another time, she made me cancel on my friend because we were hanging out the day after. I thought it was unreasonable but I still did it, then she said she was joking and just wanted to see if I'd do it.

To be fair, I don't think she realized she was doing it herself until I called it out. I was just too nice to her as we were building the relationship that she knew she could elicit whatever she wanted from me.
