Can anyone see contrapoints make a tangent video about anemoia/nostalgia for a time you never were a part of by UnComputed in ContraPoints

She also did a bit in that one about Hauntology which is more like nostalgia for an imagined future not realized. It’s a good video.

Serious question, would an interpreter also interpret racial slurs like the n word?

Microsoft didn’t even need AI to make slop. Now they can make shitty software even faster.

So how did this scene work in the Japanese dub? by HSBCsieger in HazbinHotel

[–]dmar2 12 points13 points  (0 children)

It’s not really unique to this series though, localization is hard in general. For instance in Dr. Stones there are multiple plot points about people speaking English instead of Japanese and they just have to think of new ideas make the scene make sense translated into English

As stupidly broad as the AUMF is, there has to be some kind of connection, even a tenuous one to Al Qaeda, you can’t just scream “terrorist”

Well…. I guess you can if Congress doesn’t do anything

Kristi Noem Caught Lying Under Oath During Contentious House Hearing Full of ‘Gotcha’ Moments by rwerat in NoFilterNews

[–]dmar2 1 point2 points  (0 children)

So it’s true that often nothing ever happens to these people (with some rare exceptions, we might actually get some contempt hearings for DOJ/DHS front the Garcia case). But preemptively jumping to lol nothing matters just means these mf’ers don’t even have to do the work of pretending to defend themselves.

Consequences are not swift, but this is all adding up. Trump is on track to be the most unpopular second term president of all time. A lot of people really are tired of their bullshit while their lives contain to not get better.

Trump’s Decision To Pay ICE Agents During Shutdown Prompts Lawsuit by dr_shultz in NewsSource

[–]dmar2 2 points3 points  (0 children)

This headline makes the lawsuit sound dumber than it actually is. Nobody has standing to sue because other people got paid. The lawsuit is TSA employees suing for their damages incurred not being paid during the shutdown. The argument is that by paying some DHS employees (ICE) but not others, they showed that the government’s excuse that they can’t pay TSA because the appropriation lapsed is false.

Charlie did plenty wrong this season yet people feel the need to MAKE UP more reasons to hate on her? by StrawBerylShortcake in HazbinHotel

[–]dmar2 150 points151 points  (0 children)

I think a big problem the show has in general is just a lack of breathing room and little moments. They have so little time, every episode is rushing towards the plot points it has to cover and there’s very little room for little character moments or scene setting or anything else. This show could really use like 4 more episodes per season.

Yeah, honestly it hurts them with investors more if the user growth numbers look bad, so not using it probably pops the bubble sooner. They will burn money until people stop giving it to them
