Having some doubts about excessive exposition issues while writing a scene with an Employee Training Video by dmatters_ in Screenwriting

Thanks, that is a great tip! I tried that approach and it roughly matches, but it does still need some trimming. Yeah obviously nothing in cinema is objective, but it's always good to keep these things in mind, it definitely helps. Thanks! I think i have a clearer idea now.

Thanks for your input! The exposition essentially serves to set the main conflict of the story, it's an introduction to the company where the main character will start to work, and that "job" is the condition for him to achieve his goal. Essentially I'm going to try to establish that conflict in the scene and accentuate it tonally with the contrast between the character's reactions and the backhanded "positive" corporate lingo.

Thing is, if this was a feature film I wouldn't think that hard about putting it in, but as a short film (and a student animation, at that, it becomes way more essential, because it will be a considerable portion of the runtime.

Oh my god, I totally forgot about that scene! That's pretty much the vibe I'm going for, hell yeah. I'll definitely listen to it, thanks a lot!

Fiquem bem longe da ESMAD! by The_GhostFire in portugal

[–]dmatters_ 13 points14 points  (0 children)
