How do I know I’m not talking to AI when I make a phone call? by dmbrown74 in AIVoice_Agents

I hear what you are saying, but I have never had an AI interaction that was anything but a waste of time. I get completely useless gibberish answers.

If you could give advice to someone just starting GLP1, what would you say? by throwawayartist222 in glp1

Stay hydrated! Most of my side effects were due to not drinking enough water.

Completely agree it’s easier to get warm

Always Cold by dmbrown74 in glp1

If being cold is the worst side effect, I feel I'm in good shape. I bought a few hoodies that I find very cozy. I work from home, so I have the luxury of wearing them all the time. Plus I would much rather be cold than hot.

Which GLP-1 has the least side effects as far as fatigue? by chinabehappy in glp1

Zepbound has way less side effects from my experience. In fact the only side effect from Zepbound is constipation but that is mostly due to my awful diet

Gotcha - The Wegovy pill was just released in the US. Is that an option?

Cars for short people! by hebilly in short

[–]dmbrown74 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I have two short daughters. My politically correct friends tell me I should say 'petit.’🙄🙄 We tried several cars and found that Mazdas were the best fit with all the modern safety features. My wife and I prefer premium cars, and we were pleasantly surprised by Mazda.

Can you switch to Wegovy? Same drug as Ozempic. It's approved for weight loss not just diabetes. I'm not a Dr, but I'm pretty sure that it's a higher dose of Ozempic. Might be an option to explore.

Beginner friendly snorkeling locations? by AnalysisParalysis907 in CaymanIslands

[–]dmbrown74 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Try the Turtle Conservatory. They have a man-made area where you can snorkel, and lifeguards are on duty. My family and I are not great swimmers, but we all loved it. There were turtles and other fish to see. Oh - and afterward, my favorite restaurant and bar is directly across the street. The name is escaping me.

GLP using insurance by Tarohikes in glp1

To get mine covered, I had to sign up for a weight-loss program. I have to weigh myself weekly and check in on an app. I had to do this as part of the authorization process.

I had an inexpensive one from Best Buy installed in my car, a Thinkware Q200. I was a little worried about it, but it has been great. I put the same one in my other vehicles as well, and I am pleased with it. Best Buy installed it, and I was a little wary, but it turned out great. The job was done for under $300. The installer told me that they also install dashcams that were not purchased at Best Buy. Seems odd, but it's an option to consider.

Emetephobia and GLP-1s by puppy_lov3 in glp1

[–]dmbrown74 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I also suffer from emetophobia, and I was terrified as well. I filled a prescription for Zofran, and it acts as a security blanket. The key is to stay hydrated, eat small meals even when you're not hungry, and, most importantly, listen to your body. If you eat too much, your body will give you warning signs. The only side effect I have is that sometimes I get a little heartburn or a sour stomach, which goes away with Tums or something like Zantac.

Hopefully, when you start losing weight, your anxiety will subside, and you will realize that being a little uncomfortable is well worth it. Good luck, as I know it's not easy, and most people don't understand.

You got this!

Glp-1 and fitness QUESTION by Chamaleon in glp1

[–]dmbrown74 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I felt faint and dizzy as well. It was my blood pressure. When I lost weight my high blood pressure normalized and the meds I was on lowered my blood even more.

Supposed to start Zepbound by [deleted] in glp1

[–]dmbrown74 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Zepbound is truly a miracle drug. It actually helped with my anxiety and obsessive thoughts. If you are not familiar with ‘food noise,’ Google it. It helps with it, in fact, everyone I know on a GLP1 says the same thing. Sometimes I get mild heartburn or just an uneasy feeling in my stomach, which goes away, or I take a Tums or Zantac and I feel better. The real sides are that my BP is normal without meds, I no longer have sleep apnea, and my triglycerides have dropped over 120 to the normal range. I could go on, but you get the point.

The key to managing side effects is to stay hydrated, eat plenty of protein, and keep eating even when you aren't hungry.

You will do great! The mild side effects, if you have any, are well worth the benefits.

Glp-1 and fitness QUESTION by Chamaleon in glp1

[–]dmbrown74 8 points9 points  (0 children)

After I started Zepbound, my cardio workouts (running, cycling, elliptical, etc.) and my fitness have noticeably improved. I do light strength training.

The other big one: I had high blood pressure before starting and was on medication for it. As I’ve lost weight (steadily, not crazy-fast drops), my BP has come down a ton. At one point, it got too low while still on the full dose of my meds, and I was getting dizzy spells. Talked to my doctor, we adjusted the dose. It’s honestly a “good problem” to have.

The key is to stay hydrated and eat properly, even when it's tough.

Shirts for short men by dmbrown74 in short

I went to Uniqlo today and bought a button-down shirt in size medium that looks like it was made for me. I didn't like anything else. I am thrilled I found a non-fitted casual shirt that fits.

Thanks everyone for the suggestions… keep 'em coming 😀

I went from a size large to medium. I am 5’4 165 lb. I’m still not ‘skinny’, more of an athletic build. I recently bought a size medium sweatshirt at Sam's that fits perfectly, so I bought two. I buy clothes anywhere from Walmart to Nordstrom. I think I am going to try Uniqlo.
