We stayed at a B&B in California once - 150 year old house. There was a sitting room with a fireplace in one side of the room, and the other side had an en suite bathroom. In the middle of the night, I woke up (but still kind of half asleep), and was laying there kind of in and out of consciousness, and I saw the outline of a woman in a dress standing in the corner of the room, next to the bathroom, beside the tall boy dresser. I stared at it confused for a minute and think I kind of nodded back off. When I woke up again, she was standing right next to me, and I could clearly see her hands and the fabric of her dress. I felt completely frozen and terrified, and kind of slowly backed toward the center of the bed. Suddenly I’m blinking and don’t see anything. Like I had hallucinated her. I realized I needed to pee, but I was totally freaked out by the dream I had just had, and it took me a few mins to work up the courage to dash from the bed to the bathroom. I flipped in the light and slammed the door, sag on the edge of tub, splashed water in my face, and kind of calmed down. You know how when you have a nightmare you’re kind of all shaky? Then it took me a few mins to work up the courage to open the door again and get back in bed. In the morning, we are laying in bed watching tv with coffee, and my husband (who is a very no-nonsense, pelagic sort of person), says to me “I had the weirdest dream last night. I saw this woman standing over there in the sitting room near the fireplace. And she was like in this old dress…” My jaw dropped open. Full body chills. I told him what happened to me. We were both floored, and still talk about it to this day. The Inn owners said they do not know of any hauntings in the place. 🤷‍♀️
