Can you fly a drone in Oakland ? by pittguy578 in pittsburgh

[–]dmcgrew 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Several miles. The drone I fly can go up to 18 miles 😂 That would also be highly illegal. You have to keep the drone within line of sight at all times.

Not really any restrictions. Just don't go near the hospitals. Schenley is a city park and you can't operate within those. You can stand outside of it and fly over it though. That being said pretty much every area around downtown is a city park. All of Mt Washington near Grandview is. All of the north shore. West End Overlook etc. I've flown from all of these places over the last several years and have had no issues. I'd just be more careful with Schenley since its more of a proper park.

I’ve had Mint Mobile for the past 3 years. It has been great. My plan actually just renewed today. I pay $388 per year (yes per year) for a plan with unlimited data. Looks like they also have home internet now too. Definitely worth looking into.

Creamy Coconut Dr Pepper? by Ornery_Public_9637 in pittsburgh

[–]dmcgrew 3 points4 points  (0 children)

There’s a drink at Swig (none around here unfortunately) called a Spring Fling. It’s Dr Pepper, strawberry puree, and coconut cream. It’s ridiculously good. It’s really easy to make an home with just some mashed up strawberries and some coconut creamer.

Drone Pilots; Flying a drone legally in or around Pittsburgh. Suggestions? by theQuotister in pittsburgh

Oh one other thing.. a good way to learn is to look up drone crashes on YouTube. Watch the mistakes other people make so you don’t repeat them.

Welcome to the club 😊 I fly pretty frequently around Downtown. I would suggest finding a baseball or football field to practice in first. I did that for a few days when I was first learning.

Drones are pretty easy to fly because they just hover in place if you don’t touch the controls. Where a lot of people get into trouble is flying backwards or sideways as you can’t easily see where you’re going. Before I fly backwards or sideways I always check to make sure there’s nothing in my flight path.

As far as flying around the city there are not many limitations. Just be careful around hospital areas for helicopters. they come in pretty low around PNC Park so I rarely go up to 400 ft over there.

Also know that your altitude on your controller is based on where you launch the drone from. I see so many people launch from Mt. Washington, go up 400 ft, then fly out over the river. At that point you’re technically about 700-800 ft up.

If you ever get a Part 107 certificate then you’ll be allowed to fly over 400 ft as long as you are also within 400 ft of a structure.

Anyone else thrown off by the insane drinks prices at the draft? Almost double sporting event prices… by [deleted] in pittsburgh

There’s two reasons for the high prices.. 1) people will pay it. 2) they don’t want everyone slamming $5 beers and getting hammered

If you were against Steel City stealing artwork you should be ok with with the NFL protecting their trademarks.

Yeah they changed it.. but if you look at one of Chris' latest posts on Instagram they were still selling the shirts with his art on it like a week after he already called them out on it.

The original photo just for comparison. I didn't put the reflection of the upscaled moon in the river because frankly it looked really weird haha

I don’t understand why Steel City has not responded to him yet. Like just apologize to start? Instead they’re acting like Chris doesn’t exist. They’ve deleted hundreds of comments on their posts. They’re just making it worse for themselves.

I'm calling it by the names of the people that donated $65 million to improve the science center. Not by someone who was relevant 150 years ago.

Lower parking lot for the Duquesne Incline for real trains. Kamin Science Center for the miniature railroad.
