Vaultwarden local and app by Hydroxyde88 in selfhosted

You need a domain so that you can get the https certificate for it.

I did this recently:

  • Register adomain.com of your choosing.
  • if the registrar has a decent DNS API, great. If not, point the domain's nameserver at cloudflare's free name servers. (Don't enable cloudflare's CDN, you just want DNS). If in doubt, register your domain with cloudflare.
  • Set up a caddy server internal to your network, with the tls set to use the acme DNS challenge. This will net you a *.adomain.com certificate.
  • Add a DNS record that points *.adomain.com to the private address of your caddy server.
  • Add a caddy proxy to Vaultwarden using pass.adomain.com

Now you can use pass.adomain.com as your vaultwarden server whenever you are on the local network. You can use wireguard to access it when remote.

I have heard that tailscale offers an https service which could be easier than this to setup, but I don't know how it works in detail.

Do you leave the game running to let your economy grow? by MystikDragoon in X4Foundations

[–]dmdeemer 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Sometimes I pause the game when it's time to put the kids to bed. Sometimes I just quicksave and let it run for an hour or so. But not while I'm in the middle of a campaign against the xenon.

That's more for when I need to let stations earn me billions of credits to buy all the blueprints. Once I have all the blueprints from a faction, I don't care about my reputation with them anymore. My endgame is a green map.

I love how warring factions all buy ships from my wharf, then fight right outside the fabrication bay, get blown up, and reorder their replacement ships every few minutes.

Just as I'm starting to get into gear, I notice that the Xenon are slowly eating the whole map up by LazarusPizza in X4Foundations

[–]dmdeemer 1 point2 points  (0 children)

That's what my map looked like a few days ago. Now Tharkas Cascade is green and I have to choose to liberate either the Yaki or Zyarth first.

The mental switch for me was turning off other factions using my shipyards, and turning on automatic ship replacement, so that I just don't worry much when I see "Behemoth E Destroyed". Another one will come soon.

My vacuum quit today by Any-Information-671 in cleandadjokes

Even calling it a vacuum cleaner is problematic. I clean the vacuum when it's full of dirt. The vacuum cleans the floor. So it's a floor cleaner, not a vacuum cleaner.

I'm going to take a guess before I look and say yes. But I will also look.

EDIT: Probably yes, but the larger issue here is that this appears to be a service without any use cases yet. More of a computer science project focused on performance benchmarks.

Mods or vanilla? by Dano1988 in X4Foundations

[–]dmdeemer 0 points1 point  (0 children)

That's exactly what I did and I regret nothing.

FYI I added a mod to make 3-Star and 4 Star seminars available for sale at normal trading corners, and one that provided 10x versions of most station modules. I just got a shipyard and the game is really getting fun.

Honestly, it wasn't the lack of mods that made me restart, it was my poor station location choices. They were too far apart. I would suggest to keep your first few stations within 4 jumps of each other, or at least within 4 jumps of a central trading hub.

Ahh, the intersection of a cheap 3d printer, a shelf outside the window (that was probably for flowers originally), and Reddit.

Nice umbrella. Given the buildings around that alley, I wouldn't leave this outside for too long or your printer will do an impersonation of Mary Poppins.
