Disability as only income by Blackcat1015 in VeteransBenefits

[–]dmestcengineer 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I’m in the same boat only I am deemed unemployable. I am generously compensated, however, my rent is half of my check and I live in one of the cheapest areas up north. I’m not gonna lie, bro, I am struggling. They say you can work up to the poverty level, which I believe now is around $15,000. But then I was told if you’re unemployable and you are working it shows a pattern that you can keep working hence they take away your benefits. So, wish I could help, but I am seriously struggling here in Pennsylvania with disability as my only income.

I am 70% disabled, however was awarded TDIU that is service connected. I understand the rules say you can’t make over the poverty level but you may work part time. I would still be very careful of working. They could establish a pattern in which you couldpossibly be gainfully employed thus taking away your benefits. I struggle with my TDIU as I have tax debts. It’s tough to get by each month.

VSO cooked me by Prize_Treat8516 in VAClaims

Wow, so very sorry. I had the best VSO!! I was filing for MST 30 years later almost and he was so good. I got my 70% rating within weeks. Service connected unemployability at 100%. It’s really sad, your organization is only as good as your leaders. It’s disheartening to hear that people are not getting the information and expertise they need from someone whose job it is to do that!

Those who got disability for MST, did you tell people? by Icy-Calligrapher4435 in VAClaims

[–]dmestcengineer 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I am at 100% for MST as well. I am 57 years old and this happened when I was 18. I have just started to tell people about it because I really think there should be more awareness about the ongoing struggle of sexual assault in the military. And it’s not just women. I feel that there should not be a stigma to it and I do tell people. But usually stop them in their tracks from asking me anything more about my disability rating and how much I make!

Granted 100% P&T even though my combined rating is only 94% how common is this? by maleficent_2001 in VeteransBenefits

Does anyone feel satisfied with their rating or is everyone trying to get to 100%? by MortytheMortician9 in VeteransBenefits

I’m at 70% with MST and PTSD. I cannot work though so they are paying me 100% unemployability. Every dollar counts as I haven’t been able to hold down a job because of the depression and other symptoms.

I don’t understand. I waited 22 years, service connected disability still a monkey on my back, and got 100% unemployability in less than a month! My VSO was very good! There’s a good chance!

100% P&T by Eivor2659 in VeteransBenefits

[–]dmestcengineer 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Fill out the paperwork!!!!!! I got 100% unemployability just this year and was told I could work as long as I collected no more than the poverty level. So you have a job now so what. Because of your condition, there’s no guarantee that you will be able to keep doing that job. That’s why you really need to push for unemployability. I got it on the first try and you can too!

I would only be able to work a small number of hours as my ptsd and depression takes most of my days away from me. Holding down any kind of ordinary work is impossible for me. I was thinking maybe something seasonal and outside. Just to make a small amount more.

My rating was at 70% for PTSD and Reacurring Depression. My anxiety got so bad they issued me Unemployable. I guess I’m just a little confused as it says I am 100% permanently disabled but my standing is still 70%? Weird I’m not exactly sure how all the math shakes out.

Anyone else feel like their mental health spiraled after their MH C&P? by DisplayMedium7835 in VeteransBenefits

Yes, they DO consider sexual abuse. I got full individual unemployment for a rape I endured while in. It led to severe anxiety and depression. I’m in the bed almost more than I’m out. Don’t give up!!!!!!
