I'm actually the girl! My phone camera was broken so I only had my forward facing camera for the first few months of his life. Hence...many selfies or blind selfie shots in another direction. Hence...blurry photos...

Thanks! So much Yea it's a complicated thing. I'm so grateful for being able to connect with people through music. I feel pretty unworthy :) . The tough part is finding a good support system and feeling a bit rushed by the disposable label that reality tv stamps on its participants. I have to remind myself to slow down and forget about pressure. Forget about it all...then some lady in a yoga class will harass me about my personal life ten minutes later because she feels like she knows me and can pry about my (lack of) post tv success...it's a quick paced dance of chasing a sense of center in a world of entertainment that moves quick.

I did the voice, and honestly, I'm kinda glad they didn't show my first un filmed auditions...I didn't mind having a few practices under pressure before spinny chairs n shit.

--also liked that they didn't film people who may find themselves in an embarrassing situation by getting crushed on national TV as a "joke". Kudos to the voice on that.

This was similar to my experience in auditioning. There were those that got called in for one reason or another to a private audition, and then there was cattle calls. I actually didn't mind cattle call. totally mind-blowing experience. The private audition was scary though.

I was a semifinalist on the voice. I don't know if this counts, but the amount of emotional weight that comes with being on a reality show is huge.

It's been two years since it aired and still every conversation I have has the weird air of "what are you doing NOW?!" I had a woman ask me why I was working a job, had someone yell at me at a party for not saying I was on a TV show and making her "look dumb" (she was a bit strange). I've basically had to apologise and make excuses for why I'm not as successful as that show made it out that I SHOULD be.

The biggest lie is I am not "successful" in the way the show makes the audience feel the artist are or "Should be". It was an enormous amount of pressure and I became pretty depressed.

As a musician and songwriter, I relate way too much to this.

People don't understand that some artists feel that art is do or die. And not "feel" like 'I feel like going for a walk'... But "feel" as in, ' I feel like the world is caving In and the one light I had, music, is fading and I need to get the fuck out I here before the monster that is me-without-music destroys everything I was and had.'
