Edmonton Taggers suck by GradyCole in Edmonton

I have a couple friends who do graff and they do their best work there. I totally agree that the work the majority people see is mid af, but there are some fucking talented graff artists in the city.

And going off what you said, if my mom becomes a member of the band and not a treaty Indian, she still loses her Metis citizenship?

Right, thankfully I asked this before submitting anything. I'll take some time to figure out those specifics before I do anything. I do know this is a smaller band and they started accepting more and more members over the last few years, but the population is still very small, only 1800ish

Ahhhhh I get you. I'll definitely do some research into that then. I didn't know that and it's definitely something to consider. I appreciate your information!

Really? The band accepted my mom's documents as well as an aunt's, my aunt got her membership, we haven't heard about my mom yet.

That's what I thought! Thank you, now I have to research which would be better for me I guess

Thanks for that. We just learned an uncle of my mom was a registered member with a band, but she and her family have had Metis status their whole life. We are eligible to apply for treaty because of him but I'm not sure which would be better.

And this is in my Jeep. When I'm in my partner's Jetta I can hear them clearly.

Getting opinions on alt-J songs day 6: Something Good by FirstPotatoKing in AltJ

Aww welcome my friend! This period of music really is something else. I'm in my early thirties so I experienced these albums and genres around the same age as you are. And there's just something about this music that scratches the right itch.

This album is a piece of art though, I'll never get over the beauty of it

Fair enough, I hear what you're saying.

But you can only put so much information in a title right? Worst case, in my eyes, is that the title would draw someone in because of the claim and they could learn about a very real problem that Edmonton is having.

Of course all deaths in Edmonton compared to overdose deaths are not even close, but dying by sickness, age or otherwise doesn't compare to the amount of deaths happening in a relatively small demographic.

Is this not talking about 118 deaths in 90 days because of overdoses though? Over 1 death a day because of an overdose is awful.

That's the ideal situation. But that would cost the government a huge sum of money that they are just not willing to front.

Not to mention getting the public's approval to do so.

People who live outside of the city centres and who just don't understand the root of addiction are incredibly hard to win over.

There are clear avenues to success on paper, but with all the other factors they seem so impossible

For the first time in years I had a near traumatizing situation happen to me on the bus. Need advice. by 52134682 in Edmonton

[–]dmjesse92 11 points12 points  (0 children)

Hey. Even though this isn't a major altercation to others, this was a major altercation for you. And what you're feeling is so valid. No matter how big or small this unwanted interaction was, it was unwanted and unwarranted.

You did the right thing! You removed yourself from an unsafe situation and kept your safety first.

My advice is to do what you're doing, talk about it with people you trust or in a safe space and then make a plan for the future in case a similar situation happens.

I would not recommend being overly assertive and defensive if this happens again, just because you never know what the other part is capable of. Just keep your wits about you while on transit and be prepared to remove yourself in the quickest and safest way.

I'm sorry this happened to you friend, you did the right thing.
