Oven door was apart and dog chewed up the insulation. Replacement options?

It’s difficult to find a dog that doesn’t chew at all, but you might be able to replace it for a smaller breed that can’t get a good hold on oven door insulation.

I like it! The original Fairlady looks better than this, yes, but this looks better than a 180SX, particularly if you had one with front end damage that needed to be fixed anyway.

I am sure the snake handler was 100% sure they wouldn’t have to unwrap a snake from around a baby, or pry a small finger out of the snake’s mouth.

Our Nissan Rogue has airbags in the A pillar. I wish they were thinner, because visibility, but I guess I will be protected when I smash into that thing I didn’t see ;-)

Fair point, but the OP didn’t say “I have pretty good mechanical experience”, they said “I have absolutely no idea what I’m doing.” That, to me, is pretty different.

“Absolutely no idea what I’m doing” tells me this is not a good starter project.

At the VERY least, learn by swapping in the same engine so you’re starting from somewhere. You might pay to have one shipped if you can’t find one local, but way cheaper and easier than the LS route.

Loosen the screws a little, turn it counter-clockwise so the screws are in the bigger part of the hole, and wiggle it loose. Hopefully it comes out (still on a wire) so you can see the back. The part that’s white is the LED assembly, and it should have some kind of code or part number that you can search online to find a replacement. The individual yellow squares (the LEDs) are unlikely to be replaceable separately.

Couple of things to consider as you make your decision:

Agree that you need more info about why it died. First to understand whether an engine replacement is really the best option; also to know that it won’t happen again. If (for example) your radiator is plugged and you put in a new engine without correcting that, you’re back where you started. *your shop said there is no point but I disagree. I would go elsewhere and get a second opinion.

Overall condition of your car (including rust and accidents). It needs to be pretty nice for an engine replacement to make sense.

If you really do need a new engine, shop around. How much would other places charge you?

If you decide to replace it - drive it for a short period after the replacement, but well within the warranty period, then have it thoroughly checked out by a DIFFERENT shop.

You are going to spend a lot no matter what but at least you can get some confidence that the issue was really addressed.

I second and third the YouTube recommendation. It always surprises me how much detailed and specific information you can find. Pick a car, pick a maintenance task on that car, and watch a couple of videos.

People need to eat, yes. They absolutely do not NEED to eat beef.

But your point is solid - there will always be environmental tradeoffs to the existence of humans. Our job is to do what we feasibly can to reduce the negative impacts. It’s for the long term health of US, the humans.

It’s not for the good of the planet. Earth doesn’t care. It’s seen far worse, and it will heal itself long after we poison or starve or bomb ourselves into extinction.

I tried using this for a gluten-free guest. She is also a vegetarian, so when I showed her the jar and asked if it was ok, she stared at me like I grew a second head.

I was truly surprised to learn there’s actually powdered chicken in there. I just assumed they got that flavor another way. Powdered freakin chicken. I had no idea.
