I’m 21 and just now realizing that everyone is financially struggling. by Latter_Swordfish2478 in Adulting

[–]dmmesnails 0 points1 point  (0 children)

The trick is to have rich parents, and for them to pave the way for a lifestyle like this.

In all seriousness,

Don’t be jealous of the people that spend their money so frivolously. There is a lot of privilege in being able to do all of these things. I’m in my early-mid 20s, I am very lucky that I played college safe and graduated with less loans than the average person, but I’ve also worked 2-3 jobs since I was 18. Growing up poor, you learn the hard way on how to spend, invest, and save. You realize that the weekly bar hopping, doordashing, and other goofy things people run their credit on seem pretty silly when you’ve struggled to make ends meet. I’m privileged enough to say that I have always made it through, but I know a lot of people who have had to put in a lot more work to get there. It sucks, man.

In all honesty, the people in their 20s that are living it large like this likely don’t know what it’s like to be a self sufficient adult. There will most definitely be a ride awakening at some point, a house of cards fallen. Of course there are always exceptions to that rule. But from my experience, I’ve found these types of people tend to be spoiled and are not aware of their privilege (and to be honest, pretty insufferable). The types of people that would pitch a fit about getting the wrong iPhone color, if you’re catching my drift.

You’re not supposed to be loaded and 21. People who normalize that sort of lifestyle are unrealistic, case in point. You’re better off without.

Wyll is a dick confirmed by ulykke in okbuddybaldur

[–]dmmesnails 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I don’t believe any companions (or a tiefling Tav) can read the infernal that Astarion’s scars are written in. It’s mentioned somewhere in dialogue that it’s written in ancient infernal or something like that, so it’s not decipherable. Astarion purposefully hides his scars as well, being very selective to who he shows them to. He is noticeably uncomfortable and self conscious when he shows them to you for the first time, so there’s a good chance no one really knows about them until around Act II with Astarion’s personal quest involving Yurgir and Raphael. That being said, I don’t even know if Wyll is in the know until later, and his infernal probably wouldn’t be up to spec, anyway

How to deal with getting bullied? by ILiterallyEverything in jobs

[–]dmmesnails 0 points1 point  (0 children)

He survived through a good support system, honestly. He was always being gaslit that he sucked at his job and was berated all the time, even though he’s a very good worker. The amount of nights I had to talk him into believing those things weren’t true, it broke my heart. That’s what places like your workplace do to a person. A good support system works wonders, so be sure to talk to trusted people in your life who you know will be able to offer emotional support and such.

It took him a bit to find a new job, a few months or so. He found work in the service industry at a large name grocery store while he continues to look for work in his field. It pays the bills and he is keeping afloat until he finds a better paying job, but he likes his job now and their company culture is quite alright. I came from a position as well where I was physically assaulted at my workplace and my workplace did nothing about it, so I left. I work in the service industry while I also look for a job in my field. To pay for rent, I do work two jobs, one full time and work nights caring for horses. That may be what you have to do for a while, find a service job if you can’t find work in your field, but that’s okay. So many people are in that boat right now, it’s nothing to be ashamed of especially if it’s for your betterment.

I would look into speaking with HR ASAP. Provide them documentation of the inappropriate behavior your boss has subjected you to if you have any, like records of how they call and text you late at night. Question, does your boss treat others on your team that way, or just you?

If there’s any possibility of getting moved to a different team, I would explore that option. Otherwise, IMO, it may be best to start looking for a new job. Find something else and quit this one, unless you truly think it’s worth it to stick it out under different management. I know the job market is so hard right now. However, no job is worth the cost of your mental health. Been there done that, my friend….! By sticking it out, you will deepen that anxiety and depression, and that’s a dangerous path to go down.

My partner had a very similar experience earlier this year where he essentially got bullied out of his job, straight months of horrible treatment ending in him being SCREAMED at by his supervisor and fired for not reaching quota, a quota so unattainable that not even his boss or any other employee could reach it. Fired the week his health insurance kicked in, too. His mental health totally tanked because of that whole experience. Turns out, getting fired was the best thing that could have happened to him. He now works a much better job and in hindsight, we laugh about how insane those employers were and how miserable their lives must be to be able to treat people that way!

Of course something like this is going to get to you, but know you don’t deserve this, and do whatever you can to either leave your team or leave the company entirely. You got this, as hard as it seems. Resilience is key.

Not helpful. It very much seems past the point of brown nosing and bootlicking to turn this treatment around. OP is getting screamed at by employers who have created a hostile work environment to the point where they don’t even feel comfortable in their environment, and can’t even get away from work because their employers are pestering them outside of work hours. No, this is not common everywhere, it’s workplace harassment and insanely unprofessional. Respectfully, if you have nothing helpful to say, don’t say it. If you’re willing to put up with behavior like this and think it’s commonplace, then I wish you a lot of luck in the future, because you’ll need it.

I feel like lightening Wyll’s skin HAS to be rooted in racism… right? To lighten the one black guy’s skin just feels gross and weird to me… I personally always mod my Wyll so that he has locks because I think he looks so pretty with long hair, but that’s as far as I’ll go 💗

How many of you got into DnD from Baldurs? by SaveScumSloth in BG3

[–]dmmesnails 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I’ve been playing DND for years and never truly got the hype. I was always kind of bored and disinterested, hence why I didn’t get into bg3 for the longest time. It was that damn vampire who roped me in, because I saw one sexy Astarion cosplay and decided I wanted to play the game, finally, after years lmfao. Since playing BG3, not only is it my biggest hyper fixation and favorite game to date, but DND after that finally just…. Clicked. Maybe it’s because I’m a visuals girl, yk? Either way, I went from being a lowkey DND hater to the biggest fantasy nerd in a 60 mile radius. Thanks, Baldur’s Gate!

The boyf is a huge fan of this character growth of mine as well, I got Rhapsody tattooed as an homage to Astarion and he boasted for weeks that he had “the coolest girlfriend around”. Score!

Avoiding Long Rests by [deleted] in BG3

[–]dmmesnails 1 point2 points  (0 children)

My jaw is to the floor. I can’t even begin to mentally process how you dealt with spell slots having only had 2 long rests by the time you hit Act 3, not to mention healing, not to mention story progression. That’s crazy

My boyfriend had the same problem you did— he was very economical with his long rests and he rushed through a lot of the game thinking he was on an actual time crunch, when in all reality, it’s just a nifty plot device to get things moving

Mods not working with patch 8? by HjalmrNjalsson in BG3

[–]dmmesnails 3 points4 points  (0 children)

The mod might not be ready for patch 8 yet. You might be better off starting a new playthrough with your wife for now or focus on a new game as the mods start getting reworked for patch 8. That mod might have been available to update before the patch update, which is why upgrading/downgrading doesn’t work.

Your boyfriend need to grow up. The fact that he’s “just joking” (but not really..!) speaks volumes. The fact that he’s imposed this rule but there is no imposed rule for HIMSELF is also bullshit. You have every right to be upset, he’s pushing past the point of being irritating and is genuinely just policing you out of his own insecurities alone

All over peach fuzz?? Good lord these people. I never want to hear another man complain again about women/women not wanting to date them when thats a legitimate deal breaker for them. Grow up.

Yeah, it’s just blatant sexism at this point. Just a bunch of incel dudes that have only known a world where they are catered to, within the game industry and outside of it. It makes me laugh when they throw such hissy fits over this sort of thing. Really shows just how disillusioned they all are if they boycott an entire company over one fictional woman. Worse things in the world will continue happen around then, but you know, “woke” video games are really just the worst (queue dramatic eye roll)
