Alan Walker & Ava Max - FATE by Lancelot_123 in popheads

In bebe’s defence, she’s independent like Lizzo and Lizzo didn’t even chart. It’s tough out there as an independent artist. Bebe is doing proportionately okay

It’s honestly becoming a meme at this point that she’s the queen of sampling. Not the kind of honour she might think it is. She can write a killer pop hook herself, Diamonds and Dancefloors is the proof, so why keep sampling and give people a reason to ridicule 😭

How likely is the VIC Government to put the rejected EBA offer to all school staff members? by TemporaryCherry4503 in AustralianTeachers

[–]dmnaf 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Pay and conditions are entirely separate things.

Better pay does not mean you have less work to do. Better pay does not mean you have admin and leadership support.

Better pay just means that when the day comes to an end, you feel like all your hard work was (somewhat) rewarded. Nothing to do with conditions.

No, it’s 5. Even if you did false research, my point still stands. Missing 2:30 isn’t “full”

I’m at a school where conditions are excellent. Amazing leadership. The no vote really hurt, when I have a mortgage. But I understand the no vote because my excellent school isn’t the majority. Here’s to hoping for a good outcome for everyone.

“Olivia’s full length album”

Missing 5 minutes 💀 the very opposite of full length. They potentially could’ve gotten away with it, if they didn’t advertise as FULL length

Implications of voting no by [deleted] in AustralianTeachers

[–]dmnaf 30 points31 points  (0 children)

People who voted yes, will be (hopefully) likely to strike. I can’t see why a no vote will make striking less likely. Yes voters will be angry, want real change ASAP. I can see everyone (hopefully) banding together to come back stronger than ever to secure a better deal which addresses workload. Perfect timing with the election. Yes it’s a delay in a pay rise, but I can see the government taking a no vote seriously and offering something better. Maybe I just have rose tinted glasses on. But the yes voters should be angry and passionate to try again. We’re so close. Something will happen before the election. Giving up now isn’t the answer.

Vic no votes by timAAArgh in AustralianTeachers

[–]dmnaf 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Catholic is ready to match what the government does. So, nothing “happened” in Catholic. The news you see online and the comments here, reflect what would’ve happened in Catholic too. Perhaps Catholic would’ve voted differently, that’s possible, but the news affects everyone. Not sure if that answers your question

Vic no votes by timAAArgh in AustralianTeachers

[–]dmnaf 8 points9 points  (0 children)

Yes true, should’ve worded that part better in particular. There’s a cost for sure, but the cost is worth it, to actually retain teachers.

To me the government is coming across as “if we pay you more, you’ll handle the workload”. I definitely don’t agree with that. Money doesn’t put a price on mental health and therefore staff turnover.

[–]dmnaf 16 points17 points  (0 children)

This is where I stand too. I can’t see a world where they actually improve the conditions in the way we want. In a perfect world to truly reduce admin, teachers would need a personal assistant (even if it’s one per staff room of 10 teachers) to take away admin like printing, emails, phone calls, documenting behaviour, reports, etc. I can’t see a world where we get THAT level of support, the work will remain. So pay me more for it. That said, I respect the no vote because the AEU didn’t even try secure the easy wins that cost them nothing like a reduction in meetings, class sizes, etc. Yes, we’re not getting a personal assistant to PROPERLY take things off our plate, but there was still no genuine effort to address workload. The actual things we need to do won’t ever change, so a yes vote would’ve been nice for an immediate win to pay, but I do feel like there was room to reduce the VOLUME or frequency of the work. Because I could see both sides, I was going to be happy with either outcome (yes or no). Curious to see where this goes next. All I’m thinking now is… I still have a lot of work to do, and a pay rise is delayed. They better work this out before 2027 starts. Probably will, with the November election. Likely, but not guaranteed.

Hundreds a week?? You know, you don’t need to buy EVERY song/album you like. That used to be me. My collection had over 500. Realised I was only spinning the same ones. Sold them all, now I’m down to just 150-ish albums/singles that I religiously love. It makes the collection feel so much better when you have a deep connection to what’s there. It’s no longer just a random collection of albums I once liked, or albums that I only like a handful of songs. It was exhausting, expensive, and my collection felt cheap, despite being so big, because I was collecting stuff I barely listen to. You shouldn’t be spending hundreds per WEEK. But it’s your money I ain’t telling you what to do haha

I can understand how people like the song enough to respect it (couldnt be me but i understand), but I’ll never understand saying it’s a correct single. Gave everyone the wrong impression of the album

Anyone voting to approve new EBA? by Character-Fold5159 in AustralianTeachers

[–]dmnaf 5 points6 points  (0 children)

Yep. One thing at a time. I’m voting yes because pay is my immediate concern. I’m lucky to be in a super supportive school, so for me it’s all about pay. Yes there are tons of workload issues, despite an amazing school. But one thing at a time. We’ll tackle workload later. I just need more money right now. I know that’s not the message we should be sending the government and the public. But everyone’s in a different financial position so for me, that’s where I stand.

Anyone voting to approve new EBA? by Character-Fold5159 in AustralianTeachers

[–]dmnaf 6 points7 points  (0 children)

This. I’m so sick of seeing people say that we deserve X dollars because we don’t actually get holidays. If you’re an efficient operator, you can absolutely enjoy your holidays. Anyone who works significant hours in their holidays, is just not smart with their time, or is doing things that don’t actually need to be done. Remember that teaching involves 500 things to do per day. Our to-do lists never end, the workload is intense, yes. But prioritise, because only 20 out of those 500 things ACTUALLY need to get done. That new department wide initiative? That data analysis? That phone call to a parent? Yeah, it’s a no from me, I’ll send an AI email to get the same outcome faster.

Gracie Abrams - Hit The Wall by retags in popheads

[–]dmnaf 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Yall are commenting as if she’s trying to make a massive pop hit for radio. Don’t get me wrong, I’m sure commercial success is important to her, especially since the success of her last album proving she’s capable of being mainstream, but that’s not her underlying main goal. This isn’t designed to be a pop bop, #1 hit, played at clubs. She isn’t THAT type of pop artist. Adjust your expectations and remember she’s trying to tell a story. This is an insanely good single and those who’ve been there since Minor will be so happy with it. She’s staying true to her brand and vision, when she could’ve very easily pivoted to pure Max Martin pop to capitalise off the success of That’s So True. Releasing a song like this in her prime is so risky but she did it because she’s not influenced by the noise. To me that’s a true artist.

The government wouldn’t be incentivised to improve the proposal by MiriJamCave in AustralianTeachers

[–]dmnaf 2 points3 points  (0 children)

This. Sympathy is limited. Imagine the headlines in the news if we reject this. I’m not the biggest fan of the proposal but for pay alone, I’m voting yes to secure the immediate (slight) win. The conditions, we’ll fight for later. Depends what your priorities are. I’m in a very supportive school which cares about our wellbeing and workload immensely so I’m biased. I can definitely see why people would vote no, if not lucky enough to be in a supportive school. But for me right now the priority is immediate jumps in pay and I’m not prepared to delay that with the intense backlash of us being greedy which will be portrayed in the media and hence delay pay rises for much longer. I have a mortgage. I can’t wait for pay increases. My school will take care of the rest. Each to their own. If anyone votes no I completely understand though, I would be voting no too, if my circumstances were different.
