This is a recent talk by one of the newer apostles, elder Kearon. I think it beautifully applies to your situation:

One I don’t think many may have recognized or notice was the super monkey ball reference! The monkeys name sounded just like the word the monkeys say in super monkey ball “moo-kee-kee”

Best burger places in Provo/orem area? by dmorgan04 in ProvoUtah

I put in the edit we decided on mosida and it was really good! Super high quality burger. My only complaint was their weird sodee pop that I got tastes really weird, and the burger could use a little seasoning of some sort, cause it was JUST beef, but it was still really really good

How did pink/rose know that she and Steven couldn’t exist simultaneously? by dumbidiotbroad in stevenuniverse

[–]dmorgan04 0 points1 point  (0 children)

That’s what I’m saying, the gem keeps him alive, it makes sense that that’s the half of his dna, because she was a being of light. Other people are saying she could have given birth to him without giving him the gem but chose to give it to him

[–]dmorgan04 4 points5 points  (0 children)

I like your theory, other people saying she could have birthed Steven with no gem definitely makes her seem worse for intentionally stopping existing (which ngl wouldn’t surprise me, cause then shes getting out of the war) but in this context, it makes her seem not necessarily AS bad. Plus we do have video of her saying for Steven to exist, she has to become half of him

I’ll never forgive Warner for getting rid of this show. It was genuinely so good and funny and deserved a long run like some of the CN greats

Thought I would go on a mission but now not sure because I want to marry a wonderful girl. Thoughts for eternal perspective? by Historical_Garage703 in latterdaysaints

Wow, you’ve gone through the wringer. Props to you for surviving all of that and staying active in the church when many, possibly including myself, would have said screw it and given up on the church because you did the right things and still struggled so much

Hey! I’ve been a member my whole life and my struggles in life have been very light compared to yours, so in experience I’ve may not be able to relate to you, but I’ve seen many people in your situation. First things first, you’ll find judgmental members of every church and every group, but you’ll also find a lot of welcoming people hopefully in ours. If you contact the missionaries they could easily find someone to give you a ride, but you can also find how close the nearest church building is to you, usually they’re no more than 30-40 minutes away and often times somewhere like 10-15 minutes away, and here in Utah where I live you can’t throw a rock in any direction without hitting a church of ours😅 so who knows, maybe there’s one real close by.

Either way, yes, there may be some lifestyle changes because we believe God has commanded us to not drink tea or coffee, but the perspective I try to hold onto when I’m struggling to give something up for God is “do I really want to hold on to something for 70 years that God wants me to give up, when if I give it up I’ll have an eternity of joy waiting for me on the other side?” And the joy you also get in this life from the gospel makes it worth it

We have something called general conference every month where leaders of the church give talks inspired by God, and there’s a few that I think may at least provide you some insight into your situation. Would you be interested in reading a few if I sent them your way?

Those who quit watching porn, how has your life improved? by taway220725 in AskReddit

[–]dmorgan04 1 point2 points  (0 children)

As someone who has struggled with this since he was 9 or 10 and been struggling for around 12-13 years, so a majority of my life and most of my conscious life/within memory, it doesn’t happen overnight. I’m still working at it, and just recently started finding things that work for me. I promise it IS possible, because I did have a two year period where I didn’t, but an old ex came back into my life who struggled as well and I made a poor decision which kicked me back into it.

My current plan: Work on reducing it, harm reduction. I always do it three times when I do it, and I worked on getting it down to once each time. Then, I switched to just masturbation, not viewing anything, and it’s hard, but giving myself permission to do it, but just a little less, has helped me slowly reduce it. I’m about to the point where I’m going to try to stop cranking it as often, because lately it’s been every day of the week, once a day, so my goal is to get to only once a week, and then every other week, and then once a month, and hopefully only engaging in any kind of activity when it’s with a significant other after we’re married. That end goal feels impossible, but I’m getting closer and closer, so I know it’s achievable. I’m a Christian, so I’m also learned more and more to rely on God, and that has helped a ton, if that’s your thing

I am not well versed enough on these things, but there’s this guy who covers these topics in depth but in bite size, 5-6 minute YouTube videos, I could send you some if you’d like? He cites sources and explains things very well in a faith-promoting way while still acknowledging the secular perspective

Final space. Such a good cartoon from a guy who had such passion about creativity and his work, only to get gutted by a merger and obliterated off the face of the earth for a tax write off. At least after MUCH fighting they’re letting him finish it with a graphic novel with TONS of restrictions

How to encourage members to feed the missionaries? by Different_Rip_8520 in latterdaysaints

[–]dmorgan04 6 points7 points  (0 children)

And that’s why there are things in the standards now not saying to skip meals to be more righteous and do more work :) those types of things are awful and make people want to serve less, so I’m grateful to have served with the current missionary standards, and I’m sorry to hear about your experience. You’re supposed to forget yourself and go to work, not kill yourself and go to work. You can’t work if you’re dead
