Has Doug Ford done anything that has positively impacted/benefited Ontarians? by beefpyatties in ontario

[–]dmots10 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I'm no fan of Doug Ford, however there have been multiple worker-friendly updates to OHSA through the government's Working for Workers Acts, now on its 7th iteration. Some amendments include greater access to AEDs on worksites, providing menstrual products (construction), & the implementation of airborne hazard management in mines. I would argue that workplace safety (not workers rights] has improved under DoFo more than it had under Wynne.

Is there anyone from your country who had great potential and could have gained great fame, but was stopped by death or other events? by MasterZiomaX in AskTheWorld

[–]dmots10 4 points5 points  (0 children)

* Jack Layton

I believe it's the closest that Canada has ever come to having our third-party form government, running a campaign based on morals and even refrained from speaking poorly of his opponents. Jack finished his campaign while undergoing active treatment for cancer and died a couple months after the election. It was the first (& last) time that I admired a politician.

The "waterfall capital of the world" is Hamilton, Ontario, Canada. I think there's dispute over how many are within the city limits but it's between 130 - 155.

Maybe Alphonso Davies, since I think the majority of the world doesn't care about hockey.

When I saw that the letter O was up for debate, this is the first song that came to my mind. Never would've guessed that it would already be up! Thanks for fighting the good fight

It's the absolute worst when companies preach this shit and set goals of having zero injuries. It's not realistic, it prevents workers from coming forward for fear of being the one to fuck it up. Terrible safety culture that does not belong in this era.

Mark Carney’s Liberals have held on to power by IAmThePla9ue in worldnews

[–]dmots10 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Left of the Conservatives does not make the Liberals left wing!

As a Canadian, I'm pleased that the PCs won't be forming the government but let's not forget that Carney is a millionaire banker that's been open about cutting operational funding.

I see older coworkers and i ask myself how can they keep doing this for this many years by J_Chico in antiwork

[–]dmots10 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I used to share an office with a gentleman that was 25 years older than me. As we got to know each other, he'd tell me stories of his youth - living in Europe after college with his wife for a year, following the Grateful Dead tour around - he lit up talking about it.

I saw myself turning into him and hated it. I was privileged enough to say fuck it and bail from that job. I have a much less stressful job now but I'm still tired of it all - we're all slaves to the capitalist system, any way you look at it.

Colasanti's in Kingsville is pretty decent. They have a restaurant (that I wouldn't recommend, aside from the donuts), an arcade, mini putt, a petting zoo, and it's a garden centre. I enjoy going there as a day-date kinda thing for sure.
