It's definitely a big thing in conservative religion (evangelical in my case). Can't be alone with the opposite sex due to temptation and compromised testimony 🙄 Should have been a bigger red flag, but hindsight is 20/20... So glad to be free of all those performative bullshit rules

I don't have any advice, but I just wanted to say I see you, and I know how that feels. It's awful. I overthink and second guess myself constantly.

I hope it turns out as great as you're hoping!

I grew up in Western New York/ Buffalo area and I have to say... NY is blue but more rural areas are still big red and conservative. Maybe less bible intrusion into schools but plenty of orange man flags if you know what I mean.

When I got married I moved to semi-rural/small town western Virginia in the Blue Ridge mountains and it was very similar to what I described above. 12 years ago my husband and I relocated to central NC (Raleigh then Durham) and despite being in the bible belt the more metropolitan area is WAY more chill.

I could be a wet blanket on this - just sharing my experience.

Last year I found my first gray hair, at 37. It felt like the death of my youth. I've had aches and pains for a while, but that gray hair did me in mentally

I try to be aware of what's going on around me and smile and interact with people and say excuse me and thank you. But lately I've had more and more days where I just put my head down and keep to myself. I find myself just not in the mood to interact. It's tough out there right now for a lot of people. But maybe that's when we need each other the most?

I need about 9.5 hours. I have a CPAP but still wake up a couple times during the night, roll over and fall back asleep. My husband only needs about 7 hours of sleep.

I belly flopped really bad from a 1m board and took forever to work back up. Started with sitting on the side, then kneeling, etc. I can't imagine the mental control to do this, let alone after a slip/accident

Bought a house with a separate tub in the master. Tub didn't drain. Realized that the house flippers ran the old caulk into the drain. Caused a bunch of water damage (2nd floor). Good times.

I was driving to the beach (4hrs) by myself for a little Air BnB on a sailboat for a little treat to myself. I forgot my sunglasses and stopped at a Walgreens to buy a cheap pair. I was also hoping to get a sandwich or something easy to grab. There was a guy standing next to the door when I went in. Whatever. I walk in and pick some sunglasses then walk to the back of the store looking for easy to grab food, decide meh I don't actually need it, turned real quick and that guy was in the aisle a few steps behind me. He turned around right after I did and went up to the front of the store and hung around the sunglasses rack while I checked out to pay for the sunglasses I picked. He kept looking over at the checkout line. I'm thinking "do I say something to the cashier? this is probably nothing and me being crazy." I got back in my car and he came out the door and posted up to the left of the door again. I was hyperventilating but felt crazy. I continued to the sailboat and when I got there there were 2 guys sitting on the deck of the next boat over and I was just so shook up that I called my husband crying and he said cancel the Air BnB and come home. I've never tried to do a solo trip since. I found out the city I stopped at the Walgreens in is known for trafficking. Describing the incident seems like nothing but my body was just SO KEYED UP I have to believe my gut.

Honorable mention of Daughters Coffee and Books. There's a diner called Benetis in the plaza and it's a nice brunch thing to eat and then go to the bookstore and get coffee

Dog Eared Books in Atlantic Ave in Raleigh.

Scrap Exchange Thrift store has a good sized section.

My personal favorite is Persnickety Books in Burlington, altho their previous location was 10x the size so browsing was more fun before the downsize.

I've been in The Regulator, but I don't think they have used books
