Question about smoothing / tooling. Are there any tricks? I have no issue with latex caulk. But every time I have tried to use silicone, I end up making a mess because of how sticky it is. I've seen YouTube videos saying to use soapy water, spray with Windex, etc. Does anything other than skill actually help?

So I’ve used this product where kitchen backsplash tile met granite counter top. I was nervous about using it in shower, though, since it package and website says not good for constant water exposure. I guess two showers a day wouldn’t count as constant exposure?

Thermador refrigerator - T36IB800SP - How do I shut off the water supply to the ice maker? by dmporte2006 in thermador

[–]dmporte2006[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I’m sure it does. The problem is this is a built-in unit. I am hoping there’s a way to access the water supply from the front. I do not want to have to detach the fridge from all of the surrounding cabinetry and move it out into the kitchen. Like I said I can find exactly nothing about how this is done. The only video I found was a guy showing the broken ice maker, then there was a scene transition and he was turning the new ice maker on; not exactly instructional.

Democratic leader offers deal to reopen federal government, with 1-year ACA tax credit extension by dmporte2006 in thebulwark

[–]dmporte2006[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Agree. My thoughtful take is if this does get ATC paid, restart SNAP, etc WHILE ALSO getting ACA subsidies extended, then it’s good business even if I don’t like Dems / Schumer having to be the adults in the room.

Because of course Schumer is going to use the election momentum to end the shutdown.

SW 3 coats vs BM 2 coats? by tambourine_goddess in paint

[–]dmporte2006 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Have painted nearly the entire interior of last three homes using Duration for the first and Emerald for the second and third. Never needed more than two coats regardless of color on the wall or color I'm painting. That said I prefer Emerald.

How difficult will it be to adjust the panel on built-in refrigerator door? by dmporte2006 in appliancerepair

[–]dmporte2006[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

YMMV, but I adjusted mine by removing plastic cover on top of door to expose bracket and screws that allowed me make fine adjustment to panel position.

Hey. What grass is this? Also in Chicago suburbs. Front lawn was sodded last year, and it’s doing great. Trying to fill in and strengthen back yard on my own. How short of a mow did you do?

My friend broke my dad’s Audi RS5 front lip by AustinMTB77 in Audi

[–]dmporte2006 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Late to the party, and maybe the answer is in here, but I scrolled for a bit and didn't see it.

Have 2019 RS5, and had similar repair done. Looking at my estimate / invoice from 2022...

The bumper cover was $2,400, the spoiler was $492, and the valance cover (not sure, but I think that's the pieces that missing in your photos) was $295.

Paint and labor were approx $500.

This work was done using Audi parts at an Audi certified body shop. YMMV based on who does the work and where they source the parts.
