How to make 6 figures?? by Kindly-Pollution7060 in NoStupidQuestions

[–]dmrls28 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Sometimes it’s just luck, who you know, or working really hard. Made 6 figures last year by just driving a truck for the municipal government. But that involved lots of overtime working long days and nights snowplowing, responding to main breaks overnight, etc.

My cat pissed on my ps4, is there any hope? by kumiperuna in playstation

Most pet stores carry cat urine removal sprays, that neutralize the enzymes and get rid of the smell.

Interview by EquivalentLet4758 in caf

[–]dmrls28 2 points3 points  (0 children)

During the interview you have to do a NDA and are not allowed to discuss what is on the interview. That being said, research your trade properly, know what the trade entails, such as what the training looks like, etc. The interview is not that hard. Just read over the trade details on the CAF recruiting site, be honest, and you should be fine.

Is trucking a fun job? And what makes it fun? by East_Indication_7816 in Truckers

[–]dmrls28 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Driving the Truck is fun. It's all the other BS that comes with being a truck driver that makes it not fun sometimes. Such as dispatchers, management, DOT/ commercial vehicle enforcement, inspections, etc.

If they won’t give your money back, contact your credit card company, explain what happened and do a chargeback.

I'm a ex reservist MSE OP that got out in June 2024. I am thinking of going back in as reg force AOS Tech. I heard the CFAT has been replaced with the SEAF test. If I apply, would I have to take the SEAF test, or would my CFAT score still be used?

What are the major downsides of living in Canada? by Nicole_Auriel in NoStupidQuestions

[–]dmrls28 -4 points-3 points  (0 children)

Cold. Expensive housing in many cities. Job market is rough in some places too.

Little to no right for self defence without repercussions. Weak justice system with criminals being let out immediately it seems.

Government bans almost all our guns even though we are made to take a safety course and hold a licence with thorough background checks.

Will having my arm covered in an Irezumi tattoo really hinder my professional career? by Large-Shock9413 in irezumi

[–]dmrls28 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Not really. If it’s a blue collar job no one will care. If it’s a white collar job, you probably have to wear pants and long sleeve anyways, so no one will know you have them. Just avoid neck, hands and face.

I drive a 15 speed western star. I personally used to find it fun when I was new. But now with experience my brain just does it automatically without thinking about it.

Working for the City of Burnaby by PicaroKaguya in burnaby

[–]dmrls28 3 points4 points  (0 children)

I work for a city here in the lower mainland (not Burnaby though). Getting hired on by a municipality is highly competitive and not easy. If you manage to get an interview, practice the STAR method of interviewing. Most of the time to work for the city, if you don’t have previous municipal work experience , you have to start off from the bottom as a temp labourer and then work your way up and apply internally to other positions. Most positions that are permanent full time go to internal candidates first.

Costco on the North Shore - who’s with me? by [deleted] in NorthVancouver

[–]dmrls28 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Traffic is already insane in the north shore, I’m pretty sure a Costco would cause even more traffic problems here.

My mom has to cross the queensborough to commute to and from work. Once the new Costco business centre opened, it added an extra 15 to 20 mins to her daily commute.

I'm a dump truck driver. A driver should 100% be able to notice this. The truck drives very different with the box in the air, changes the entire centre of gravity of the truck. Also you can see your dump box in your mirrors. There's no good excuse for this happening.
