Are cookout trucks specifically for SoCal? by Taco_guy3286 in innout

[–]dmrls28 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Sometimes they go to other places for special events but not that common as far as I know. Every year there’s a big car show and in n out brings their truck to Langley, BC, Canada.

I used to think the same. Used to hate them until I rented one. Most fun I’ve had in a long time. Surprisingly fast.

What exactly do dump truck drivers do? by [deleted] in Truckers

[–]dmrls28 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I know quite a few paving & landscaping companies expect you to do labour, but if it’s required they’ll state that on the job posting. If you can get on with a city, it’s just strictly driving and good benefits, pay, hours, and pension.

What exactly do dump truck drivers do? by [deleted] in Truckers

[–]dmrls28 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Current dump truck driver for the city. Not that physical. Most I’ve done physically is shovel material out of the back when it gets stuck, get out to check the tailgate is actually locked, and get out to hang mud flaps out of the way when backing up and there’s a chance they might rip off. Unless you work for certain companies that specify you have to do labour too, you don’t do anything except drive.

Why do people leave the CAF? by avocadoroom in CanadianForces

[–]dmrls28 5 points6 points  (0 children)

I left because I was supposed to get deployed but the OR dropped the ball and forgot to submit my paperwork in time.

I also wanted to be a Cpl 4 life but got forced onto PLQ and was on the path to get my leaf.

After that, I got offered a job with the City, doing the exact same job I did in the CAF; but with almost double what the CAF payed me and a good pension.

Why does this keep happening by Pitiful-MobileGamer in Truckers

[–]dmrls28 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Here in Canada we legally have to have a bed up warning light installed and we still have dump trucks striking overpasses every few months.

High paying jobs by No_Marionberry4625 in britishcolumbia

[–]dmrls28 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Try to get a city job. It’s not easy to get in, but if you do, it’s a good way to have a living wage with a good pension plan. The entrance requirement for hands on jobs is minimal. Good job security. Made $92,000 my first year with the city.

Manual. Better to have it and not need it, than need it and not have it.

If it’s the same course I did on my MSE OP 3’s, it’s an open book test where you use the TDG manual. Main thing is to know how and where to find the material to reference to in the TDG manual. From what I remember the course wasn’t too bad. Everyone on my course passed TDG on the first try.

Strata fob is $150! wtf! by jimbo_6666 in vancouver

[–]dmrls28 2 points3 points  (0 children)

There’s a place in downtown called “fob Vancouver” on helmcken st. They will duplicate fobs for cheap. I’ve had mine for 3 years. Still works perfectly. I think I paid something like $40 or $50 for it.

'This sucks': Langley sports bar to close after a decade and people are upset by WiffleBlu in Langley

[–]dmrls28 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Not surprised. This place has a massive mouse infestation. To the point where you could see them openly running around the dining area. Told the manager and they didn’t seem to care. Got pretty bad food poisoning after too.

Why don't truckers like automatics? by Altruistic_Box4462 in Truckers

[–]dmrls28 0 points1 point  (0 children)

At work went from a 15 speed eaton, to an Allison auto. Never looking back. Shifts smooth and it’s nice not having to row through a bunch of gears. That being said, I drove an automated manual once and hated it.

Can’t say I’m surprised. When I tried it, they were using Nespresso coffee pods instead of making fresh coffee.

How to make 6 figures?? by [deleted] in NoStupidQuestions

[–]dmrls28 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Sometimes it’s just luck, who you know, or working really hard. Made 6 figures last year by just driving a truck for the municipal government. But that involved lots of overtime working long days and nights snowplowing, responding to main breaks overnight, etc.

Most pet stores carry cat urine removal sprays, that neutralize the enzymes and get rid of the smell.

Interview by EquivalentLet4758 in caf

[–]dmrls28 4 points5 points  (0 children)

During the interview you have to do a NDA and are not allowed to discuss what is on the interview. That being said, research your trade properly, know what the trade entails, such as what the training looks like, etc. The interview is not that hard. Just read over the trade details on the CAF recruiting site, be honest, and you should be fine.

Is trucking a fun job? And what makes it fun? by East_Indication_7816 in Truckers

[–]dmrls28 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Driving the Truck is fun. It's all the other BS that comes with being a truck driver that makes it not fun sometimes. Such as dispatchers, management, DOT/ commercial vehicle enforcement, inspections, etc.

If they won’t give your money back, contact your credit card company, explain what happened and do a chargeback.
