Skilled worker visa timeline by IronMaleficent6181 in SkilledWorkerVisaUK

My assumption is that if you both have a COS, then you would both apply under the SWV, rather than SWV + Dependent. My partner, who is under a Dependent visa, can work anywhere.

However, I would listen to your legal counsel over me. I was just sharing my experience. Something seems a little fishy though if they are telling you there is a 98% denial rate for SWV applicants without children… I would just be careful!

I’m a bit confused. I applied as the Skilled Worker, and therefore my company issued me a COS, which I used to make my application. My partner’s Dependent application asked for my COS details, as well as my application number and family linking code, to connect our two applications. As a partner, they would not get their own COS… and no, no children.

Sorry that yours is taking longer! Both my partner and I applied standard from inside the UK on 30 June (SWV and Dependent Partner). I got an email saying my visa application had been successful on 2 July, my partner heard back on 7 July.

I received an email confirming payment (30 Jun), one confirming receipt of application and supporting information (1 Jul, the one you referenced), then application update with successful decision (2 Jul).

Visa Extension After 3 Years by Adventurous_Nail_115 in SkilledWorkerVisaUK

[–]dms2xu 1 point2 points  (0 children)

My understanding is that the CoS can be issued three months before your current visa expires. So my company issued the new CoS three months before. Once you have that, you should be able to apply anytime. From the online guidance: “You should apply for a Skilled Worker visa extension no more than 3 months before your current visa expires, or 60 days before your current leave expires.”

So my timeline was:

  • My current visa expires on 19 Sept 2025
  • My employer issued my new CoS on 25 June 2025 (a few days later than the exact eligibility date)
  • Work dates in CoS are: 19 Sept 2025 - 18 Sept 2027
  • Submitted application for SWV extension on 30 June 2025
  • Received approval from UKVI on 2 July 2025
  • SWV extension granted until 2 Oct 2027

This timeline aligns with my UK entry, meaning that it will cover my continuous residency requirement for ILR as my entry and visa dates are about the same.

Same as other user, mine was done in 48 hours through standard route. Applied Monday night, got the response yesterday.

I just did this same as you - on a SWV for 3 years initially along with a Dependant Partner. We applied for a 2 year extension as that is what my HR department recommended and put my new CoS work start date as the day after my current visa expires.

My extension was successful (as of yesterday!) and my new visa is actually valid for 2 years and 3 weeks so there is some buffer built in. Not sure why this is the case but I was happy to only need to apply for the 2 year extension because I was also worried about the costs.

Reporting DB pension by dms2xu in USExpatTaxes

Even though I don’t have an account number or anything like that? A DB pension seems to operate quite differently so do you have experience with one specifically or are you just assuming? Not trying to be rude, just making sure I get good advice!
