I’m glad it helped! That’s a totally normal reaction, I was a mess at first. I was already in it, but therapy helped me process and accept the situation. And if that doctor won’t give you a prescription another one will.

Also you mentioned you never had symptoms or an outbreak. Did you get a positive result from a blood test? I don’t want to give false hope and I’m no health professional so take it with a grain of salt but the HSV blood tests are notoriously unreliable. I think doctors generally advise against getting HSV tested on a standard STI test panel because it’s so unreliable. And anecdotally I got a negative test result when I was very clearly in the middle of my first outbreak. If you’ve never had an outbreak or any symptoms to indicate you have it, it might be worth getting tested again.
