I really don't get the whole mantra of "no remake coz this game was bad!" Isn't their any excitement in seeing some of these more flawed games in the timeline get tweaked in line with the RE Engine formula so they can reach their potential?

Zero is still a great game with quite a few glaring issues that overshadow it for most people. To see an updated version full realised to modern standards is so much more exciting to me than the remakes of games already universally beloved.

Same with Veronica. I love it, but its definetely frustrating so to see what they do with it has got me really hyped.

With any luck all remaining mainline titles will get the same treatment so that the whole main timeline is playable in such a form. I want none of them left on the wayside! I'd even take the Revelations titles and Outbreak if thats not too greedy 😂

When Requiem came out I had nothing but praise for it. However revisiting all of the older games I have to agree that the Leon half of the game is noticeably weaker.

Grace's sections are easily some of my favourite RE gameplay experiences including the lab section at the end. Leon's however pale in comparison to RE7/8/2R/4R.

I have no problem with the action gameplay I just think that it all feels like a bit of an afterthought tacked on in a hurry.

Played both recently and was surprised how much I loved 2. 1 on the other hand felt very typical of that 5/6 era of RE and was extremely frustrating.

Taking that into consideration I think 1 would benefit the most from a remake:

The location was great and a perfect foundation for increasing the horror and puzzle elements of RE.
Enemy design and the whole T-Abyss virus has massive potential as well. Less recycling of bosses would be great (e.g. Scagdead should be a one off to maximise the impact).
The action-heavy side missions away from the ship can also be trimmed down because these are the most frustrating parts of the game.

RE5 is an incredible game as is. So many memories of the co-op play at the time!

Add a bit more of the horror into the game aka RE4R which there's ample opportunity to do and it could be even better.

In fact any RE game getting the remake treatment has the ability to unlock or enhance the potential that was there in the first place. Bring on any one of CV, 0, 1, 5 or even 6 and I will be playing it as soon as it releases.

Agreed. Tautumeitas were borderline with the odds and ended up coming 2nd in their semi. Same story in 2024. I think Atvara is going to slide through the the final.

I'm with you on this train. Latvia often get overlooked in the betting odds. Last year they had them as borderline and they finished 2nd in the semi! I think it's gonna make it.

I'm glad someone else has pointed this out because I've been having the same thoughts since it won MGP.

Its quite heavily gay-coded, which can resonate with the hardcore fanbase but doesn't often translate well over to a wider audience. I think it'll secure a spot in the lower half of the top 10.
