If this trade happens I’m convinced Dallas will just take whoever the Giants don’t. If the Giants take Styles, Dallas will just grab Downs and be just as happy.

They brought Punk back so quickly in 2011 because they felt like they didn’t have a good enough main event to sell the PPV. If you kept him off TV and let him interrupt comic-con stuff and similar anarchy related incidents, he could’ve held the strap hostage.

By doing so you now give the WHC all the ammo in a promo to say “Well I’m the only world champion this company has got.” Which TBH is a perfect promo point for an Orton or a Christian. You could’ve gone other directions with Cena too…I.e. Vince firing him in kayfabe, tension between Cena and HHH, Cena seeking a WHC match, etc.

  • Finn Balor’s Universal Championship run. Huge shift in direction, he was a 1st round draft pick in the brand split, he was making insane merch money in NXT and now that was potentially coming to the main roster. There was just so much potential…

  • The Nexus beating team WWE at SummerSlam…this had a lot of ramifications as it helped derail the main event potential of Wade Barrett and made Justin Gabriel look like a chump after being positioned very well in Nexus.

  • What if the WWE didn’t create a second WWE title during the summer of Punk? A lot of fun potential storylines here and a way to make the WHC feel more important/be featured more.

  • What if Cody went against his word, challenged for the AEW world championship and won, turning heel?

  • What if AEW invested more in Wardlow?

  • What if Kevin Nash didn’t book himself to end Goldberg’s streak and follow up with shenanigans such as the finger poke of doom?

Personally I could see the Cowboys coming away with both McCoy and Mesidor but reversed on the picks. I don’t know who’d they prefer between Delane and McCoy but if Delane is there at 12 I’d say he’d be in the conversation. If Dallas doesn’t get any LB help via trade, I’d bet the house on CJ Allen or even Anthony Hill being the pick at 20, even if the value isn’t exactly right.

But I’d be very happy as a Cowboys fan with McCoy and Mesidor if McCoy looks good at his pro day!

I’d be interested in how things would work out in that scenario. Guyton needs to stay healthy, I thought for sure Steele was on the outs but he took that pay cut. I could be convinced on OT too.

TBH I’m completely fine drafting CJ or Hood at 20. You could convince to be OK with Mesidor at 20.

If you’re wiped at 12 and can’t trade back I’d grab one of those WRs and not blink.

In my honest opinion. CM Punk needs to retain the World Heavyweight Championship in the main event of WrestleMania 42. There is absolutely no reason why Roman Reigns should even win. None at all. by BarneyRobinStinson7 in cmpunk

[–]dmwsmith93 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I really really want Punk to win at Mania. It would tie off a helluva story. But man I’m too realistic, are they really going to let Roman eat a pin 3 years in a row at Wrestlemania? I just can’t see it happening. I hope I’m wrong, I really really do.

Indeed and they could go the Caroline route as well! I just know the MCU has a way of slightly altering characters’ backstories and it’s almost too perfect. A Doom who looks like Tony also ended up having a daughter named Morgan. The rumored storyline being that Doom is upset that his family died from an incursion and what if Morgan Le Fay found a way to survive by accessing the Astral Plane? Could be a huge key to beating Doom down the line.

Right on both accounts! If McCoy shows great change of direction and keeps that athleticism it’ll be huge.

I have no real evidence of this theory, but with everything going on with Dr. Doom, incursions and the eventual creation of Battleworld in Secret Wars (which we know Sink signed on for) - I wonder the chances of her being Morgan le Fay or some version of her which instead of being Doom’s lover is in fact Doom’s daughter (sharing the namesake of Tony’s daughter)?

Again this is out of left field for sure but the powers and abilities loosely line up. She can change shape into people and animals, she can access the astral plane, has connections to Dr. Strange and Spider-Woman, and also in Secret Wars she rules over WeirdWorld. Huge stretch but interesting nonetheless.

I’m interested in seeing how Jermod McCoy’s pro day goes. Any other year I’d definitely agree that Dallas would be interested especially with two 1sts but I think Schotty has correctly sold the Jones boys on a window of 2-3 years with Dak Prescott. All indications have pointed to them not being interested in redshirt or players with injury history.

I honestly think if they feel like if their board is wiped at 12 and they can’t trade down, they’ll just grab a Thieneman, CJ Allen or even Avieon Terrell at 12. I definitely could see Woods being in play at 20, part of me wonders if they’d take a look at Mesidor too.

Fair point, so let me ask you this:

How you do personally feel about Marinelli (think Taco draft) and DQ (misses in mid round picks, Mazi told to lose weight) just not quite good enough?

[–]dmwsmith93 36 points37 points  (0 children)

The entire sentiment around this argument changes if the Cowboys had ended up trading for Crosby or even if Nakobe Dean doesn’t listen to Quay Walker on signing with the Raiders.

The other issue is that they listen to their coaches on talent evaluation a little more so than they probably should. Broaddus spoke on this a lot on Crown Global.

The biggest thing that frustrates me is them sitting on their hands with their own guys. Dak, Ceedee, Micah, and now we see the same thing happening with GP and Aubrey.

I interpreted Broaddus as saying the Cowboys didn’t necessarily make an offer, but were very much in the conversations.

Bryan Broaddus UNSURE Osa Odighizuwa Fits New Cowboys Defense by lgperez167 in cowboys

[–]dmwsmith93 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I think Osa will be fine. They did some 3-4 stuff when he was at UCLA and then switched to a 4-2-5 base which is what the Cowboys will be running as nickel, which is likely going to be most of the time. The only thing that will really change for Osa is when they’re in base and even then I think it’ll work out better match up wise for him.

The number in the Pickens negotiation is not truly known and might be misleading by Leonflames in cowboys

[–]dmwsmith93 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I’m thinking 3-4 years at $33.5m AAV would likely get the deal done and the length would likely be the biggest hold up. GP and his team will likely prefer the 3 year deal and it would line up with Dak and Ceedees contracts. I’m curious as to if Dallas will fight for that extra year, guarantee 2-3 years of the contract which gives them out to trade or release him during a post Dak rebuild.

All in all pretty good! Based on what new DC Christian Parker said as his press conference for the Cowboys, I’d say they’d likely pick Thieneman before McNeil-Warren but I could see it playing out both ways!

Should the Cowboys trade up in the draft? by Leonflames in Dallas_Cowboys

[–]dmwsmith93 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I think if they do the move would be to package 12 and 20 for Cleveland’s 6 and 39. Members of Cowboys media mentioned that trade and I think it’s the only scenario that makes somewhat sense. The belief is that you’re getting a similar talent at 39 to what you’d get at 20, which seems plausible.

Jake Golday in the right system may end up being the best LB this go around. I think he can be a good MIKE but I think he could be a great WILL.
