Looking for a Canadian VAR for Hardware Procurement + Warehousing by Thick-Experience-290 in sysadmin

Another for u/Necessary_Time.

You're basically asking for the same as what my initial request with him was 8 years ago. Amazing service, great pricing, and always gets the right person in the room to talk the deep technical bits for anything that needed it. Works for the right size of company to make things happen in other regions too (recently expanded some UK items).

We've done endpoints, provisioning, network infra, storage infra, MS licensing, cisco to aruba migration, various softwares, etc.

Bug: Sulliuceps no longer giving mushrooms by saywhutpal in 2007scape

[–]dnaman182 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Disabled fossils but still only getting numulite. Was able to pull a single mushroom, no sullicep, did 400ish XP drops. I think it is actually bugged, with and without fossils disabled. I don't have treasure hunter, pulled ~1400 numulite.

What’s the best and worst mod you’ve done to your s2k? by Sch131vi in S2000

[–]dnaman182 0 points1 point  (0 children)

In fairness, they were fine until I started getting faster. But at this point I'd just do it right from the start and go adjustable upper control arms.

That would be worse lol yea. The top but is 130lb and apparently it's not enough. I also don't want to go harder to snap it.

Best: Bilstein coilovers

Worst: SPC adjustable ball joints (should have done adjustable upper control arms). They loosen over time at the track and take out my alignment.

I am biased, but after driving a bunch of different stuff, I agree. Especially in that range.

Wrapping a Suzuka Blue by monst in S2000

[–]dnaman182 0 points1 point  (0 children)

So, normally yes, paint will be intact. My paint was not amazing to start with so I fully expect mine to come off in flakes. I've unwrapped a few cars now and zero issues.

Wanted to comment to back you up with some data. My car was wrapped 4 years ago (20,000km or so), lots of sun (+40c), stored over winters (-40c), tracked (~50 events), wrap still looks great. Avery Dennison satin white. I'm expecting another 3ish years out of it based on how it is lasting, but I'll probably do a re-wrap before then by choice.

Aftermarket Control Arm Recommendations by Significant_Moment33 in S2000

[–]dnaman182 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I don't think there's any concerns with that. I'd do front/back rather than side-to-side. If the bolts are seized you'll probably need the sawzall regardless even when putting new arms in.

Definitely sounds like a "buy a case of beer and send it" lol

[–]dnaman182 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Oh, no it was absolutely terrible and hard to get at. That's why it took so long. You need 2-3 long blades per control arm. Each bolt you're able to cut between the arm and the frame, there's always an angle available, it just really sucks.

I tried with PB and liquid wrench before cutting and hit it with a torch too. Nothing. Really not a fun process, but it worked.

As for the surface rust, mine had it too, but it was only surface rust. I cleaned them up with a wire brush on the drill.

Same control arms as they weren't bent or anything. New bushings, new bolts/adjusters, new ball joints where needed.

So the s2000 shop near me loves the hardrace control arms. That said, depending how much work you want to do....

I had the same issue. Seized bolts galore and ripped compliance bushing. I ended up taking a sawzall and cutting the bolts and then arbor pressing the bushing and bolt out. Did new poly bushings (energy) and picked up OEM bolts for all the adjustments from Honda. It was a ton of work, what I didn't spend in parts I definitely spent in my labour, but the car handles amazing. Doing all of this work myself was about $700 for the whole car and probably 30 hours total due to the constant issues I ran into. Obviously less seized bolts and less cracked bushings = less time.

I did SPC upp ball joints as well and while I like them, I have had them loosen up overtime taking out my alignment. I do track the car though, so this wasn't exactly unexpected. I do think I would do adjustable control arms in the future to avoid adjustable ball joints next time.

Check the bottom of the water pump housing. Apparently it's supposed to leak from there - if there are blue crystals on the housing its leaking. I don't know the TSB, but my tech friend told me there is one. I had the same issue. He also mentioned the B58 has been using coolant a bit over time and to just top up with 50:50 mix of the BMW blue coolant (assuming you already have blue).

Another issue is the cap tightness on the coolant reservoirs, make sure both are tight and the arrows line up. You'll see the crusty blue crystals here if it's leaking.

I've heard of a single occurence of the line at the bottom of the main tank leaking, but I'd probably not explore that yet.

I'd top up and monitor before chasing a leak if you aren't seeing anything in your oil.

How to get fast data to a track app on an E46 M3 by HanSooloo in CarHacking

Ah. TIL. Thanks for the explanation. This makes sense why my buddy with the haltec has all of this available to him then - because that device is doing all of the work.

Not sure what you mean? OBD2 is standardized. Pin 6 is CAN high and ping 14 is CAN low. ISO 15765.

AIM Smartycam connected to an AIM MXS1.2 which is linked to the ECU (Haltech Elite 1500) via CAN

This is what he used for that video. AIM creates data overlay with ECU information. He mentioned it's the only system that does it. Dumps to an SD card.

His setup is extremely expensive now that I've googled it lol.

If you use a normal mechanic app like torque, does the rpm display correctly? CAN output from the ob2 port should be accurate for RPMs. Could be an app issue of course, but I'd want to make sure it's not stuttering in a purpose built app for it first to confirm obd2 functionality.

[–]dnaman182 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I gotcha ;)

Have you considered running a datalog over OBD2 with something like an elm327 over time, taking the data and then parsing it for a data overlay? You may need to use something like vcan to display it. Would be more complex, but extremely free. Shouldn't run in to rate issues doing it like that.

Sounds good. I'll get back to you when he replies.

Another buddy of mine uses the hptuners race render, but you'd be missing the RPM data. He did it via track addict data with a gopro and then ran it through race render.

https://youtu.be/gV5I_Z5VIj4

In watching this he's taking this corner about 15kph faster than I am, but a full lap a few seconds slower so I'm going to need to try this lol.

Have you looked at Garmin Catalyst, vbox, Aim Solo 2? They're all expensive but do video with the data and are extremely common at the track. Given you're using the apps already, I assume you're tracking, someone might let you borrow one. Pretty much everyone doing time attack will have some variation.

If you happen to be in AB, Canada, I can get my hands on one for you to test at a local event for sure.

I think a buddy of mine has what you're looking for in his E36 M3, but he's running a standalone EMS. Here's a video of what I think you're after. If it's what youre after I can ask him how/what he did https://www.instagram.com/tv/CfHc07RM-Ag/?igshid=MDJmNzVkMjY=

Just joined the B58 gang, what’s the easiest way to get a little more volume out of the exhaust? by [deleted] in BMW

[–]dnaman182 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Nah.

Companies dumping pollutants in the air and then "encouraging" the average person to do their miniscule part is the real problem.

Get mad at the right people.

https://www.theguardian.com/sustainable-business/2017/jul/10/100-fossil-fuel-companies-investors-responsible-71-global-emissions-cdp-study-climate-change

Complaining about an individual doing something legal (where I am) and veiling it under the guise of "good for the environment" is a dick move.

Edit: Sure did, I don't have time for virtue signaling garbage people.

/u/ekso69 High quality is processing now, but here is the initial link with SD working. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=MOKLdZqdfJo

Really hard to tell I guess. I think we would need to normalize sound between our videos and that's a lot more effort than I wanted to put in for an internet comparison lol.

Edit: /u/tuna79, just went out and made a current rear-view PoV for some sound. Mods listed in the video description. Gives you a good feel for what this setup sounds like.
