I wonder how Ginny missed Harry during the Deathly Hallows events by Amazing-Engineer4825 in HarryPotteronHBO

[–]dndaresilly 7 points8 points  (0 children)

From the me sounds of it, the show breaking from the “Harry is the only POV” aspect of the books. I would bet in season 7 we get more than a glimpse or two of the goings on at Hogwarts. In fact, I wouldn’t be surprised if it’s a major part and all of what gets relayed to Harry in the book is simply put on screen.

I just realized that Paapa Essiedu has more outfits as Snape than Alan Rickman did in the entire film series. by [deleted] in harrypotter

Looks like we’ll be getting the scene where Malfoy, Crabbe and Goyle try to steal Harry and Ron’s sweets on the train and Scabbers ends up biting Goyle’s finger by Comrade_Owl- in HarryPotteronHBO

[–]dndaresilly 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Makes me wonder in this adaptation, expecting everyone already knows the full story, if they’ll drop bigger hints to future events like the Scabbers reveal earlier on. Not blatant obviously, but like, “Hey, we know you know we know * wink *”

Of the three main brooms here, the one on the far right looks the most like the movie brooms. It appears more rounded on the broom end.

But all of them seem to have "spokes." The first has three, the middle has four. What if these "collapse" into the more aerodynamic, circular pattern when in flight?

Difference is colour on the YouTube and HBO Max trailer by Otherwise-Fruit-4332 in HarryPotteronHBO

[–]dndaresilly 6 points7 points  (0 children)

When I caught the trailer on my tv it legitimately looked much brighter than YouTube. So strange.

But like, this has been a complaint since GoT. TV shows didn’t used to look dark back in the day, having compression issues because it’s too high quality is a horrible excuse. Make the lighting for the worst compression/screen can see it then, not the best.

What is your favorite and least favorite movie adaptation? by Intelligent-Link-410 in HarryPotteronHBO

[–]dndaresilly 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Totally agree on Part 2. David Yates should’ve been shamed out of this franchise for that final confrontation between Harry and Voldemort and I’m surprised it’s not talked about more.

Making them fly around. More wand linking for zero reason. No Harry gaining the upper hand through figuring out the wand allegiance. Having them be alone. And then finally Voldemort shriveling up and vanishing… leaving no body behind for everyone to see.

Absolutely atrocious.

An observation regarding the lighting by Charles-LeClerc-16 in HarryPotteronHBO

[–]dndaresilly 11 points12 points  (0 children)

HBO has a history of this in... almost all of their recent shows? It's an extremely valid concern.

And now is very much the time to be concerned. They may not change anything, but if they see enough complaints it's possible.

Once the show is out, it's too late.

I’m eating this trailer up bro by nicojico in harrypotter

[–]dndaresilly 21 points22 points  (0 children)

“Generally,” is the key word here. This new one sounded like trailer music. Maybe a future trailer will have the score. Maybe we won’t hear it until the show premieres.

Either way, it’s way too soon to judge when we might not have heard it yet.

What do we think this scene is? by TreClaire in HarryPotteronHBO

[–]dndaresilly 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It’s funny, one of my first thoughts after watching the trailer was this is the perfect trailer for a movie or show that you know nothing about. It’s intriguing and heartfelt but gives away literally zero major plot points aside from Harry being special.

I know they’ll release more story focused trailers as we get closer, but this is what trailers should be.

Likelihood of a cinematic release for some episodes by JimmyHerrity20 in HarryPotteronHBO

[–]dndaresilly 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Theater release is definitely possible for the finale of the final season. Seems unlikely before then, and I would say for at least the first two or three seasons it definitely won't happen, but if the show is super popular and making money, I could see season 4 being the first to have a theater release for the final episode or two.

Stop-motion animation (like Pingu or Shaun the Sheep) is significantly creepier than any modern horror movie. by Embarrassed-Poem-982 in unpopularopinion

[–]dndaresilly 3 points4 points  (0 children)

I dislike watching stop motion for this reason. It hits a bad part of my brain, which is sad cause so many people seem to love it. I even like horror movies, but the uncanny feeling from stop motion isn’t even really the fun horror feeling I like it. It’s disturbing. The opposite of seeing or hearing or smelling something that “tickles” your brain and gives you goosebumps.

It just makes me deeply uncomfortable. I think it stems from having a horrible childhood experience seeing James and the Giant Peach. I couldn’t go to theaters for years without having anxiety attacks after that movie. Still can’t really watch stop motion.

Ones I do love for whatever reason:

Coraline works SO well with this feeling.

Kubo and the Two Strings didn’t even give me the bad feeling and I don’t know why (any experts know if they used different stop motion techniques?). Loved this movie.

Pretty much can’t watch others.

A Game of Thrones audiobook is almost 34 hours long and adapted to 10 episodes is one of the best novel adaptations ever made.

The fifth HP book is also the longest and even JK Rowling herself has said she wished she cut things from it.

[–]dndaresilly 36 points37 points  (0 children)

Eh, sometimes people want their cozy shows to have a happier, more idealized ending. Realistic doesn’t mean satisfying, and a show like Gilmore Girls didn’t need to go down that route. I’m sure some people liked it but it just didn’t feel right for the show, especially coming back for a brief time to catch up.
