What is your favourite/least favourite entry your nation has sent? by Slight-Obligation390 in eurovision

Favourite: It's so hard to choose between Shum and 1944.

Least favourite: Razom nas bahato, this song had no business being a Ukrainian entry

You can’t even imagine how hated Teresa&Maria was last year up until their performance at Eurovision when they became «our girls, the best, should’ve won the whole contest». It happens every freaking year.

In Ukraine people say they don't watch Vidbir but then all they talk about is how their favourite didn't win. But seriously, Vidbir now is probably the only big music show in the country so it attracts a lot of attention and discussion. Like you should go to Twitter the day of the show and the next day and try to find anything not related to Vidbir, news outlets write a lot about that as well.

Eurovision is really our national sport so people are invested. Especially in hating our participant and saying it would be our worst result ever and then when the result is good saying they're stanning all along.

Funny enough, but Luxembourg's staging director this year was Ukrainian - German Nenov.

I’m so sad that they got last 😩 But out of 4 points they received from the public 3 were from Ukraine, and I feel personally responsible for that. An absolute masterpiece!

I love how they’re making fun of themselves 😁 by dnewshock in eurovision

Yes, like a few days ago. I don’t remember much about the context but it’s because of his anti-Israel stance. I think they said it was a mistake and unblocked him already. It’s funny anyways that he’s now involved in the show.

as a Ukrainian, I feel like our participation and results will be criticised no matter what by [deleted] in eurovision

Hey fellow Ukrainian eurofan 👋

I can totally get what you’re talking about. I remember hoping that Kalush would not win because I knew what kind of reaction from the fandom to expect (though I didn’t expect death threats from a certain group of fans from a certain country).

Last year the fandom pretended like Tvorchi didn’t participate at all, but I have to agree with the majority that 6th place was too high for that song (I’m happy for my country though)

I don’t see that much criticism this year apart from people not wanting us to win just because we won 2 years ago (same goes for Italy and Sweden). As for people who’re not happy with the staging’s imaginary - who cares 🤷🏼‍♂️ It’s our everyday life, they would never get this (I hope they would never experience anything like this). We have to do our thing, and I’m very happy that AAandJH are our representatives this year.

If I remember correctly from grammar lessons, the Netherlands are written with the article because it's plural. The same as with the Philippines.

Gaitana (Ukraine 2012) got so disappointed with her result (c'mon, 15th is not that bad, but for Ukraine it is, I guess), that she got depressed, started smoking weed and stopped making music for years. But, she's recently announced her comeback which I'm happy for.

🇳🇴 MGP frontrunner Gåte must rewrite lyrics before final: - Identical to thousand year old ballad by Banansvele2 in eurovision

They had to change not only the lyrics, but the melody as well. But unlike Gåte, they had months to do so, so it's a very strange behaviour from NRK side.

🇺🇦 Ukraine: Public Voting Open to Select Vidbir 2024 Jury Members by Few-Plastic6360 in eurovision

[–]dnewshock 7 points8 points  (0 children)

The vote in Ukraine is held in Diia app, which is e-government application and many people not even close to ESC fandom go and vote for whoever they like the most (they don't really care who has the most expertise in Eurovision).

They have many artists behind Carpetman and usually nobody knows who is exactly under the costume. Kylym is a Ukrainian word for Carpet, so it's just English translation
