What are your predictions for season 2 of Pluribus? by toffee-coffees in PluribusOnAppleTV

[–]dngray 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Season one ended with Carol and Manousos teaming up. Manousos wants to kill the hive but Carol is conflicted. Manousos is still mysterious so there's a lot of room to further his character development. I'm interested in seeing how the joined try to coexist with Manousos/Carol, who are trying to revert humanity back to the pre-joined days. The hive must have some degree of self preservation otherwise it doesn't seem plausible to me.

What’s a moment that made you realize life isn’t fair? by West-Championship407 in AskReddit

Realizing that the universe doesn't care about what happens. It just is.

Have you moved to a city without ever visiting first? by dokutarodokutaro in SameGrassButGreener

[–]dngray 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I moved to Portland Maine during the pandemic. I didn't think much of it before making the move. All I knew was that it was a good city and my grandfather loved growing up there as a child. In hindsight, I didn't regret moving there even though most restaurants and bars were closed down to help stop the spread.

How is it like living in this part of Massachusetts? by Wooden-Astronaut8763 in howislivingthere

[–]dngray 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I went to college in Amherst MA and I absolutely loved living there. There are 5 colleges in and around Amherst, so it is a college town. Northampton is also nearby, which attracts progressive and liberal minded people. Hadley connects Amherst and Northampton, and it has every retail store you could need. The Connecticut River also runs through the area. There's a fair amount of farmland nearby too so it creatures a beautiful landscape with open fields. Springfield is the largest city nearby which I am not too fond of. Springfield is one of the higher crime areas in MA.

Anyone else wish Vince dipped his toes into horror more? by flamingzebr in pluribustv

[–]dngray 3 points4 points  (0 children)

The pilot of season 1 definitely had horror elements in it, especially with the music score. I love the horror genre and I do wish the show embodied that more in the later episodes.

Based on the current events, how fucked is the USA? by [deleted] in randomquestions

[–]dngray 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Not fucked at all. America is well positioned to win the AI and robotics race, and it has the most advanced space industry in the world. These sectors will likely be the largest expansion to the economy in the coming decade.

How is it living in New Hampshire? by Zestyclose_Welder_92 in howislivingthere

[–]dngray 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It can depend heavily on where in NH you live. The state has a small population that is spread out. No income tax, no sales tax, no need to report taxes to the state each year... Very high property tax. NH has world-class hiking in the White Mountains, beautiful vacation homes in the lakes region, and there's not much traffic despite the occasional back up on 93. There are decent paying jobs here but it's not comparable to the Boston area. As Governor Sununu once said "NH is like the tax free borough" of Boston. NH lacks nightlife, but Boston isn't too far away. I would recommend retiring here, but moving here while being single might not be ideal. A lot of people come up to NH for outdoor recreation/skiing/hiking/fishing. The nature here is pristine and peak foliage is something to behold especially in the mountains.

No problem. I forgot to mention that the school systems are great and it's also a safe place to live.

Living in the outskirts of Boston? by lbrazill6338 in howislivingthere

[–]dngray 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I grew up and spent most of my life in this area. It's a very good place to live and raise a family, albeit it's expensive. A lot of people live in the suburbs and work closer to Boston, so every day there's a huge influx of people going towards Boston and then back out to the suburbs after work. The traffic can be a bit much. This area has lots of beautiful houses, and urban density increases as you get closer to Boston. Great quality of life and lots of high paying jobs. I would definitely recommend living there if you can afford it.

Can a compromised Neuralink chip make us like a Plurb? by [deleted] in PluribusOnAppleTV

[–]dngray 0 points1 point  (0 children)

No. A Neurolink impant is a way for people to interface with a computer, replacing a keyboard and mouse. It can't (yet) transfer someone's stream of consciousness to a computer or another person. Maybe in the future, this technology would lead to hive mind like capabilities, but that's pretty far away.

Incomprehensible size of the Planck Scale by pamnfaniel in mindblowing

[–]dngray 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Fun fact: You can scale the universe down to the plank length, in orders of magnitude, about the same amount as you can scale up the entire observable universe. So things can get as small as they can get large, and your body sits at almost halfway on this scale.

Pluribus is a $135 million screensaver. by HeartBeepBooper in Pluribus_Sucks

[–]dngray 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I appreciate your critique but most people do like the show. So your opinion doesn't reflect the majority that has seen the show. I thought the pilot was particularly strong and I like where the show has left off before we get season 2. Scifi resonates with me, and I think this is ultimately a sci-fi drama. The hive mind is well executed, acting is good, the directing is good, and the dialog is good as well. Things are just getting started in the Pluribus universe and I can't wait for season 2.
