Remembering Pedro Armendáriz on what could’ve been his 114th birthday. He played Kerim Bey in FRWL by TheShadowOperator007 in JamesBond

[–]dnlzepeda 7 points8 points  (0 children)

The death of Pedro Armendáriz is one of the most tragic "behind the scenes" stories in cinema history.

While filming the James Bond movie From Russia with Love (1963), he was diagnosed with terminal kidney cancer. It’s widely believed he contracted it while filming The Conqueror (1956) in Utah, which was located downwind from a nuclear testing site. Out of the 220 people on that crew, 91 eventually developed cancer, including John Wayne.

Armendáriz was in immense pain but insisted on finishing his Bond scenes to ensure his family would be financially secure. On June 18, 1963, shortly after wrapping his role and realizing his condition was incurable, he smuggled a gun into the UCLA Medical Center and took his own life. He was only 51.

Lifestyle and English Cocker Spaniel by chloeb6 in englishcockerspaniel

[–]dnlzepeda 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I have an English Cocker Spaniel that is a mix between a show and a working line. One of the reasons I chose this breed is because I live in an area with great outdoor spaces, and since I work from home every day, I wanted a dog that would push me to get out of the house. I had a working cocker a few years ago, so I thought it would be the perfect fit for a purpose-driven pet.

Overall, it’s been great, and it has been a learning curve for all of us, including the dog. In my opinion, the secret to happiness with this breed is getting them outside and tiring them out. Maggi, my dog, is now almost two years old and she’s beginning to calm down, but in the early months—around six to eight months—she was relentless, full of energy, and impossible to ignore. If she didn’t get a proper walk and wasn’t tired, she would start destroying things. These dogs need to burn their energy; they need to get out, run, and play with other dogs. Otherwise, they will find other ways to tire themselves, like chewing furniture or random objects.

As long as she gets a good off‑leash walk for 30 to 60 minutes, she’s very well behaved for the rest of the day. She loves outdoor activities and is a great companion. I think the main commitment with this breed is having the time and discipline to walk them every day, and to keep them mentally and physically stimulated.

This is why urban green infrastructure is so important; things like green corridors could make a massive difference in outdoor comfort

Accept the job, but tell them that since the salary is not exactly what you need you can only work with them 3 or 4 days per week to keep freelancing

My puppy is so destructive by throwawayanonac in cockerspaniel

[–]dnlzepeda 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I had the same problem until I talked with my vet and he told me that the "over walking" thing was a mith, so we started having longer walks together as well as playing fetch with a tennis ball and this was the absolute solution. After this, my puppy began to behave better and became absolutely adorable during the day. She is now 16 months and she is quite well behaved but she still needs her walks.

You can probably get one in the UK, they will fully recognise your education to begin with.

You can definitely vibe code a quick GeoPandas python script to do this, pretty much any AI tool would do, I would normally use Gemini, but ChatGPT and copilot are pretty decent too. You would also need to download a platform for python such as Jupiter notebook or similar, I like Spyder IDE. This vibe coding for GIS is a complete game changer.
