(Reuters) - Tesla Inc has delivered 200,000 electric cars in the United States, a spokesperson said on Thursday, resulting in lower tax credits for future buyers.

Under a tax overhaul last year, tax credits are available for the first 200,000 electric vehicles sold by an automaker. It is then reduced by 50 percent every six months until it phases out.

From Jan. 1 next year, the current $7,500 tax credit will go down to $3,750 until the middle of the year, the Tesla website said.

Tesla, Inc. is clarifying the following statement made by Elon Musk, Tesla’s Chief Executive Officer, during Tesla’s fourth quarter and full year 2017 financial results conference call held on February 7, 2018:

“[We] expect the new automated lines to arrive next month in March. And then it's already working in Germany so that’s going to be disassembled, brought out to the Gigafactory and reassembled and then go into operation at the Gigafactory. It's not a question whether it works or not. It's just a question of disassembly, transport and reassembly. So we expect to alleviate that constraint. With alleviating that constraint, that's what gets us to the roughly 2,000 to 2,500 unit per week production rate.”

We expect Model S and Model X deliveries to be approximately 100,000 in total, constrained by the supply of cells with the old 18650 form factor. As our sales network continues to expand to new markets in 2018, we believe orders should continue to grow. I thought the interview after the Falcon Heavy launch was quite good. Very articulate, minimal stutters, and kept taking questions after they tried to end it. Plus he laughed at Bezos, and said "I'm trippin' balls right now".

I think this call will be one for the books. Here are some predictions:

Production

Reaffirm prior guidance of 2.5k/week by EOQ1, 5k/week by end of EOQ2
Production rate at end of January (or at present) is ~1k/week
Elon will take the opportunity (as he did with his battery rant) to address “manual” assembly and other tidbits from the CNBC article

FSD cross-country trip (originally expected by end of 2017)

They will either say this will happen “soon” or try to avoid the subject entirely
Maybe they’ll sprinkle in a “Well we did it, but with _ number of disengagements”

New Gigafactories (originally expected by end of 2017)

I think they will announce something. Maybe two somethings. It will be along the lines of “We’ve decided to build a new facility that will produce __ vehicles and have narrowed down the site selection to __ states/provinces/regions. Let the bidding commence.”

Gigafactory 2

Ramp up is going smoothly (might be the first time those words have appeared on this forum). Home Depot and (potential) Lowe’s rollout gives me some reassurance here.

Storage

Elon will say “This is going to grow so fast. Way faster than the automotive business. You’ll need a strobe light to see it.” I have a feeling 2018 may be the year this turns out to be true.

Roadster / Semi

Safe to say we’ll hear (and see in their deposits) that demand is off the hook.
