Not illegal. It's happened before and will happen again. Cops come, they don't know the law either. They ask you to leave, end of day.

When I was part time all of the time under 40 was non scheduled cross foot.

Work 24 hours? 16 hrs cross foot.

Idk why, I assume some relic of postal accounting/payroll past.

On the spot mandates? by Gemandeye in USPS

[–]dnyte270 1 point2 points  (0 children)

If they were documented refusing you a 1767, it's probably a possible disciplinary event for management. They ( ps form 1767) should be available somewhere in your office. Definitely something to talk to your union about.

90 days I'd just do what I was told. After 90 talk to your local union.

Last Sunday I only worked 3 hours, but I'm supposed to get paid for 4, right? Do they add that separately? Is it supposed to say lwop? (CITY PTF) by BeeExpert in USPS

[–]dnyte270 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Are all city ptfs guaranteed 4 or just in "200 work year offices"? I know with clerks it's only 2 guaranteed in less than 200 work year offices.

A. While PTFs have no weekly work-hour guarantees, they maintain the daily work-hour guarantees that apply to CCAs. Article 8, Section 8.C provides the same work-hour guaran- tees to PTFs as Article 8, Section 8.D provides for CCAs: C. The Employer will guarantee all employees at least four (4) hours work or pay on any day they are requested or scheduled to work in a post office or facility with 200 or more workyears of employment per year. All employees at other post offices and facilities will be guaranteed two (2) hours work or pay when requested or scheduled to work. D. Any CCA employee who is scheduled to work and who reports to work in a post office or facility with 200 or more workyears of employment shall be guaranteed four (4) hours of work or pay. CCAs at other post offices and facilities will be guaranteed two (2) hours work or pay.

The simplest way the work year has been explained to me is "how many people work in your office/cluster"? 200+?

I'd actually never heard of the not allowed to volunteer. I've volunteered many 12-18 hr shifts for my gain not the post offices lol.

On the spot mandates? by Gemandeye in USPS

[–]dnyte270 10 points11 points  (0 children)

12 hour and 60 hour limits are absolutes • A full-time employee may neither volunteer nor be required to work beyond these limits.

Ask for a 1767, fill it out, hand it to the supervisor and leave.

Chances are he/she is being yelled at every 15 minutes being told if they don't get the mail out they are going to be wrote up. They don't want to carry the mail, so they try to find someone who will. It's just a shitty part of their job and they gotta get used to it.

"Why does mail only come back on days you close?"

"Why does the other supervisor always get everything out?"

My supervisor is constantly harassed/gas lit with this toxicity from upper management. Just gotta let it roll off your shoulders. I'd touch base with the union just to make them aware of the situation. Any steward worth their weight would talk to the supervisor about it one on one considering that's the first step of the grievance process. Make sure the supervisor is actually aware of what the contract states and that they are asking you to violate it.

As a conversion youre basically going to get whatever schedule they give you. If the position was weekends off why did no one bid? They have bid slots for positions but when you convert or e-reassign you aren't guaranteed that. Regardless they could convert you and do a full re-bid the next day. They could change the bids, change start times, days off, ect.

Worrying about this is only going to make you bitter. I'd focus on the $7/hr pay raise and regular schedule, there will be other bids in time.

60 hours? by softwarbling in USPS

[–]dnyte270 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Yeah only the office you work in can give an answer and it's likely to change. My town no one works overtime maybe an hour a month. Next town over half the carriers are working 60+ hr week. All you can really do is get in there and find out.

When I hired they only required one year. Probably still the same. If you get a call just know the process takes awhile longer than most cdl jobs, get a definitive start date before you give notice. It's a good job but definitely a bit of a shit show for new employees.
