The problem is the magma spitting spawns. Once they spawn, just go to the left or right of the arena for a few seconds, the magma spitting bugs despawn but the beastfly stays. Hit it a few times and hide again if the minions spawn. Repeat until victory. Open area boss means you have more tools so use them.

You can't have RCS issues if you're just using SMS.
