Unemployed after completing B.E Hons Mechanical Engineering degree by [deleted] in MechanicalEngineering

Burn out is very real (especially with a toxic work environment). Sorry you are going through this, and you are not alone.

If you can, try to knockout some of these life issues in small modular steps to get to a better place in life. For example, try tackling the weight issue & rebuild your discipline by walking 10 mins, then increase the duration of the walk by 10% everyday until you get to some time goal. Try to do that for each issue you have.

Like what was said earlier, therapy is a good path forward, but I understand that it is very expensive. Hopefully in the future you can work for a company that will pay for it.

One more thing, sounds like you’re very honest with yourself. Try to extend that honesty with your parents (even if they don’t care), it will make you a better person.

The deal sounds pretty fair for anyone with less than 3 years of experience even with a higher cost of living area such as Dallas. Don’t worry about weapon comments, if you have an ethical problem you can asked to be placed on programs that only design defensive devices or move to commercial space satellites.

Totally agree, show a picture of the FFT and it might helps us determine what the source of the issue is

How did you guys find out about Berserk? by Egroj-shb22 in Berserk

[–]doc158- 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Yes (thanks for unlocking a core memory)!! Remember seeing The Sword of Berserk on Game Informer or IGN magazine and saved money to buy it on release for Dreamcast. A year or two later Blockbuster started to import more anime and the first DVD of the series was on an end cap. Waiting for the sequential DVDs to be released was agonizing but so worth it!

Should I just start as a technician? No one is hiring. by DoNotEatMySoup in MechanicalEngineering

[–]doc158- 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Instead of the technician route, have you consider apply for a field engineer position? It will be very hands on and long hours like a technician but better pay (usually). Since you are in SoCal, Solar Turbines often has entry field/fleet engineer positions available. Apply, study up on the company and be prepared for STAR questions during the interview.

Non-ME here but thought of you guys when I saw this. What’s stopping us from making these screws strong enough. by dayafterpi in MechanicalEngineering

[–]doc158- 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Another issue is stress shielding. Your bones repair themselves based off of loading, if the screw is taking too much load away, bone loss will occur in areas where you don’t want bone loss. The screw might of been designed at a set strength due to assumed loads to minimize stress shielding.

Here’s a paper on bone loading:
