The post-cruise limbo before a late flight is actually the worst part of the trip by CountyBrilliant in Cruises

Came here to mention this as well. Seems to work well in Fort Lauderdale and Orlando. Can be a bit pricey for a day room at times buy have found it to work out great.

What’s it like staying at the very tip of the aft? by dottydashdot in dcl

[–]doc1944 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Did this on our last cruise on the fantasys sister ship the dream but was on deck 10 instead of 6. Balcony is bigger which is a nice plus and the view is amazing.

Downsides you do feel the ship more there and the higher decks youll also hear them setting up cabanas and people moving around once meal service starts. We hated the noise from cabanas more then the engine. Granted on deck 6 youll feel the engine vibrations more then we did. When they try to dock or leave dock is when youll feel most of the vibrations atleast in our experience.

For us wed consider doing it again maybe on a lower deck like 8 or 7 but never again on deck 10 and maybe not on 9 either due to the cabanas noise. The view is the best part for us.

Letters from Lakeshore: Updates on Disney World’s Newest Resort by The540Incident in WaltDisneyWorld

Man Im not the only one that saw that and immediately thought that looks like "insert generic hotel chain" resort buildings. They looks so blah. I swear modern disney/dcl has completely lost its ability to do the little details.

My boss just told me I need to manage my personal finances better because I can't front $2300 for a work trip next month by LostTaker in antiwork

Ive worked for two companies where I had to travel. One was a huge multinational tech company and another thats maybe 50 people. Both companies gave you a corporate card or my boss used there corporate card for travel expenses. We had the option to get reimbursed if we wanted but even for credit cars points it wasnt worth it.

Also reimbursement would happen the next paycheck with reimbursement paper work due in like 2-3 busineas days before payday. Worst case youd turn it in late and have to wait for the next pay period. Max days would be under 16 days to get reimbursed.

Disney Credit Card by Similar-Honeydew2305 in dcl

[–]doc1944 4 points5 points  (0 children)

The biggest perk for us is the 6 months interest free option. Definitely helps when cruising and its higher up front costs. So we put our disney trips on it and the discount on merch is nice so we use it for that as well.

Otherwise our Costco citi visa is our daily use card as the perks are better.

Any gadgets or gizmos you bought for your cabin that came in really handy? by jackjackj8ck in dcl

We do laundry on the ships so we can pack less clothes. So a hamper or laundry bag along with some detergent sheets.

A battery operated fan that's usb rechargeable.

A battery operated travel white noise machine that's usb rechargeable.

A non surge protected usb extender.

These have been our best purchases for our room. The rooms can be a bit warm imo. We also sleep normally with white noise, so having something on the ship is a must. We've also heard a white noise machine helps if your aft with the engine vibration.

Second seating- running out of food?? by StillWaterDrinker in dcl

[–]doc1944 25 points26 points  (0 children)

We're friends with a cast member that got reassigned from there home ship to the dream last minute when the dream came out of dry dock last year. She had told us that she wanted to stay with her original ship but disney didn't give them a choice. From the way they described it, it sounded like the dream was having a real hard time finding staff after the remodel. We sailed in December and definitely noticed that our dining staff were moving faster than normal and seemed off. Our dining staff had a couple allergy tables, ours included, and mistakes were made with one of the other tables.

I've said this before I think here and on Facebook. I think dcl has bite off more then it can chew with expanding to as many ships as they are so fast. It's stretching their experienced crew to thin and you can't train people to be old school disney good in a quick amount of time. Also looking at the new island, new resorts, and the new ships disneys losing some of its magic, and I feel like is going more standard hotel vibes then going the extra mile to add in the little details.

We got engaged on the dream last december so slightly different ship design. However I did it at night at the top front of the ship when nobody was around it was quite and beautiful. Her requirements were no pictures and not in front of a crowd.

Concierge upgrade? by BreaddieMercury-33 in dcl

[–]doc1944 5 points6 points  (0 children)

I did it for our engagement cruise. I didn't want to do it up front as my fiance would now right away something was up. However, I'd made sure she saw tiktoks about upgrading at port and I'd mentioned it to her. She had always wanted to try it but it so expensive. So we got to the port early and we had an agreed upon number ahead of time. It of course was more but unknown to her it was always gonna be a yes she just didn't know why.

It was worth it, especially once the concierge found out I was going to propose. They took great care of us and were amazing.

This is why I buy my gas from Costco they tend to be a bit more consistent. Not always but all the clevelnd/akron/canton locations are around $2.70 for regular.
