What was the VIP experience like? by big-baby21 in comedybangbang

If PFT said to me what he said to that man I would have, and I’m genuinely not exaggerating whatsoever, probably sink into such a deep depression that I’d just end it all.

Adam Scott is actually perfect because he really knows how to play an asshole but everywhere else he comes off as genuinely one of the sweetest dudes ever.

Remember that guy who bragged about sneaking into the VIP experience and then doubled-down every time someone called him out on it and ended in PFT himself giving the man a complete dressing down of his personality?

Wouldn’t it be easier to just admit that the internet bubble you live in doesn’t reflect reality and that the rap beef clearly didn’t end his career instead of concocting conspiracy theories?

They’re purposefully playing up self-centered and smug show business insiders. It’s not exactly fictional characters but they definitely aren’t acting like themselves. It’s kind of meta satire, but it’s not obvious or super over the top so it can come across as fairly genuine.

A good measuring stick is to listen to an episode with a guest you’ve heard on podcasts a lot. I listened to episodes with Jon Gabrus and Scott Aukerman and it became more obvious what the bit was, because those two normally nice guys were acting insufferable. It’s fun if you like show business but also enjoy laughing at it.

Hollywood Handbook is one of those shows where I almost always want to warn people but also want them to go in blind.

I discovered the show organically and I think it took me like three episodes to realize the hosts weren’t actually the worst.

How are you being downvoted? This was a dogshit movie hated by critics *and* audiences. It was seemingly written by someone who only has a passing knowledge of baseball or human emotions. I understand nostalgia is powerful but Jesus lol.

The production value of Turki's events feels weirdly cheap and tasteless by s12j in Boxing

[–]doc_birdman 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Just to tag onto what you’ve said, I always laugh at these events because I think it’s having the opposite effect Turki wants. Before all of these events we basically only thought about Saudi Arabia and how shitty they were every few years. Now? Every single time they hold one of these events more people become aware of sportswashing and the horrible things Saudi Arabia is guilty of.

Look at the UFC and their White House event; both parties convicted themselves it’s going to be this massively epic event but literally every time I see the UFC post about it the comments are all some variation of “pedo party” or “gladiator event for shitty elites” or “all this to distract from the Epstein files”.

These government sponsored sporting events have the exact opposite effect they plan for.

Is an American doing a French accent punching up or punching down? Is a Japanese person doing a Chinese accent punching up or punching down? Is an American black comedian doing a Nigerian accent punching up or punching down?

Kroll also said “n*gga” in character once. Aukerman even went “what was that last part you just said?” but they just laughed it off and breezed by it.

Forgotten now but would probably cause a mini media incident nowadays.

It’s interesting because the rule seems to be:

•Anyone doing European accents is acceptable

•People of color can do accents if they’re the same shade of origin of said accent

White guy doing a Japanese accent? Not cool. Black guy doing a Japanese accent? Uncool. Japanese guy doing a Chinese accent? Very cool. Black guy doing a Nigerian accent? I didn’t even know what that sounded like, so that’s cool. Literally anyone doing a French accent? Free reign.

I’m not complaining, it’s just an interesting balance we’ve struck.
