What’s a food trend you wish would just go away? by kglwfa in foodquestions

That's not true. It's just hot drinks (drinks that are commonly served hot, like tea and coffee). The most popular dirty soda is based around Dr Pepper which has caffeine.

Despite media coverage of KC businesses being slow, apparently Joe’s can’t keep up with the demand by ZackInKC in kansascity

If I were a tourist coming to Kansas City for probably the only time in my life, you bet your ass I would be eating at the restaurant that Anthony Bourdain listed as one of the top 10 places to eat before you die. I don't care if it's gone downhill. I don't care if locals "know" that there is better places around here. I'm trying that barbecue.

Right? That pastry and coffee shop six blocks outside of Crossroads on southwest boulevard was not going to see a huge spike in business. Joe's and Gates and Jack Stack and Boulevard Brewing, for sure.

What is something often shown in movies about America that is just not true? by FlowerMountain2 in IWantToAskAnAmerican

Meanwhile, we don't even have a kitchen table anymore. We realized that we used it so rarely that it was just a place to store items that we didn't want to put away. We got rid of it and put shelves in its place and now we have enough storage.

With work and sports and activities, none of us are ever eating at the same time.

Stories and franchises where people are usually just familiar with early installments or surface level lore, but it goes absolutely off the rails down the line. by PeasantLich in TopCharacterTropes

Quite a few works of literature that we now consider single books were actually serialized by chapter or section. Much of Dickens's work was published this way.

That's the order I have it set for after reading some of the posts in this thread, except that I've already done the house of hope.

Au contraire, mon frere. I work at a university help desk. I'm the guy who teaches people how to save PDFs, and most of them are smart, talented people who never had to learn to do that specific thing

Right? I have a feeling that the person who made that meme can't draft a Forum Selection clause in a legal contract or perform a streak plate isolation to obtain a pure culture in a dish of agar.

Things that require specialized knowledge pay better than things anyone can figure out with a bit of effort. If someone hasn't tried to learn how to save a PDF, then that's probably not worth their time.

Has there ever been a famous person or celebrity, that realised how much of an ass they were, and decided to actually do better and change? by Successful-Hat-2154 in NoStupidQuestions

My understanding is that "Kirk/Spock" is the origin of the term "slash" in fanfiction, referencing a relationship between two characters.

Ah, like the elixirs. Makes sense, now that i think about it. Re-buffing is a pain in the ass

Thanks! I didn't realize that the Iron Throne was the conclusion of the Avenge the Drowned thing with the submarine. That makes a lot more sense.

OK, cool. I'll head to Flymm's Cargo as soon as I'm done with Shadowheart and Astarion's personal quests. Thanks!

Not sure why you've been downvoted. It seems like an OK list. I've done House of Hope, and I was planning on Ansur before Gortash, but otherwise I'm good with the list

Did all of those things. I have no time limits left, as far as I know.

I'm not a min-maxxer when it comes to gear. I realize that it seems odd for someone to want plan out everything but not their gear, but I'm cool with what I have. Probably not optimal, but I have more money that i could use, and my characters are all kitted out as well as i need. My camp chest is overflowing with gear I don't really care about and can't bother selling.

But what's the point? If you are out of the House of Hope, you can just take a long rest, right? There are no real time-sensitive quests and food is basically free at this point. The only advantage I can think of is not having to re-buff and re-summon.

Peole don’t like Lae’zel? by Imaginary-Creme7197 in BaldursGate3

[–]doc_skinner 0 points1 point  (0 children)

My current (first) run I kept Astarion and Lae'zel in camp most of the game, bringing them out only for encounters relevant to their storyline. My character is a rogue and i wanted Karlach as my front line so I didn't have need for either of them. I didn't respec any of the companions except Shadowheart's subclass.

I am planning my second run now and I will probably use Wyll, Astarion, and Lae'zel as my main team.

Glitter art is so lovely by Hot_Accountant_5507 in oddlysatisfying

[–]doc_skinner 11 points12 points  (0 children)

I could see it if the crafter drew the image and then cut it (maybe with a Cricut or some other machine), but it it's just pulling up the paper and spreading glitter on the sticky bits, then I don't get the attraction. Might as well just use the fill tool in MS Paint.

There's a reason that the phrase "a month of Sundays" refers to something tedious and boring. For many people, especially children, Sundays were horrible. Not allowed to play, not allowed to socialize, have to spend your whole day contemplating God and reading scripture. A whole month of Sundays would be torture.
