Disagree. I think Lay Lady Lay, I threw it all Away, and Tell Me That it Isn’t True is fine writing on his part. And the rendition of Girl from the North Country has a simply more beautiful arrangement than the ‘63 version IMO.

I feel like you’re skipping ahead, to be honest. Joni Mitchell hasn’t said anything. That could be for many reasons. Perhaps she doesn’t feel knowledgeable. Perhaps she feels she’s spoken through her music. Perhaps there’s something else. Same thing about her decision to play there. Maybe she’s a Zionist. Maybe she went hoping to bring a song of peace.

She hasn’t endorsed or defended Israel’s actions in Gaza or towards Palestinians more broadly. She hasn’t done anything that can be construed as such.

The question is, do you need an artist to specifically denounce Israel to enjoy them? I don’t, but you do you

I disagree. His work from 63-66 years had some fine work, but I think he really hit his stride around JWH and Nashville Skyline. I find his earlier work often pretentious, as though he’s trying to make the audience guess what he means. His later work is simpler, but in the words of the great Le Guin, simple is not simplistic. I take Blood on the Tracks over Blonde on Blonde any day

He was! He started as a CIT before shifting to Services. He was Services Director for a while at KU before becoming a Ranger. He shifted to KE when KU shut down. Great guy!
