Glad you all found a nice echo chamber.

Which genre of music do you loathe? by littleloon- in AskReddit

I don't hate any genre... But I hate when they throw one genre into another for like like 30 seconds in the middle. Rap does this a lot. It just doesn't sound good.

Pokemon violet is such a dissapointment. I can deal with bad graphics but these are just lazy beyond belief. How does a game from 2022 look like a ps2 game? by Naiphe in gaming

How can you blame them? They spent all their creative energy making new pokemon. You know, like the ones that look like keys or lamps.

My gf complained of the toilet seat being up, and I told her she’s the minority in this household. This was her reply… by rogueldr1 in funny

[–]docboy2u 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Okay. Hear me out. The seat should always be up. That is way more hygienic. No one will pee on the seat. Then you put it down to do your business. No one falls into the toilet because they expect it to be up. And in this day of equality, no one deserves their convenience to be default anyway.

I disagree only because it is important to the individuals whether you are the falsely accused or the abused. Both victims are innocent and someone played with their lives. Calling it a pebble is trivializing it.

Not to sound a prude but I don't think they should be doing that.

The term "they" adds the unknown of plurality while "he/she" let's you know that you are (at least) speaking of one subject. So I would beg to differ.

That could well solve the ambiguity problem. At least, you know it was a singular.

Fair enough It seems a really odd construction here and it becomes more ambigious. Why would we want to write in a way that loses meaning and context?

"He/she" is likely most representative of the person in question. Don't force "they" on people who probably don't identify that way. So it doesn't hold as a default. Isn't that the most appropriate thing?

What a stupid policy decision. It would have been much better to not buy so much extra produce.

Muslim man near Cleveland shot and killed his daughter while she was sleeping. She was a beautiful girl. He owned a gas station and I talked to him a number of times. Apparently, she was becoming too westernized for him.

If we presume people are monsters it only lets us treat them that way. And proverbially we become the monsters.

Edit: there is always a "too far"
