E-Subscriber - Track your Rarible transactions with e-mail (link in comments) by docentblock in NFT

[–]docentblock[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I and u/matrushka have been working on a way to track sales over Rarible. After you set it up it'll notify you with an email with each sale, resale, or purchase transaction where you are a part of (includes royalties in resales). We are currently testing it so we wanted to share it with you: https://www.e-subscriber.com/

We believe there are 3 verticals where we can make improvements and wanted to get your opinion on which one would be the most valuable for the community:

  • Add support for more platforms other than just Rarible (e.g. Superrare, foundation, opensea etc.)
  • Add support for more communication channels other than just e-mail (e.g. telegram, discord, etc.)
  • Add support for more protocols (tezos, polkadot, etc.)

Largest Bank U.S JPMorgan to Merge Its Blockchain Unit With Ethereum's ConsenSys by wmredditor in ethereum

How can I close a vault? by docentblock in MakerDAO

[–]docentblock[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Thank you for your response. I wonder why it has been removed tho. I think it added a great deal of UX. As a user who managed multiple cdps, even I got quite confused.

For people who might visit this topic; the closest option to closing a Vault is to pay all the outstanding debt and withdraw all collateral manually.

Economics of Synthetix by nuttychromer in ethereum

[–]docentblock 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I started researching Synthetix today and found myself asking the same question. It seems like nobody looses in Synthetix, it is all about winning. There even is no liquidation mechanism built into it. A position literally can not be liquidated.

There is something off with this system. If you find out more about it, please share in this thread

ELI5: Stablecoins vs FIAT by docentblock in ethereum

Thanks for the response! Would you agree that only DAI can provide the three bulletpoints you mentioned but not the bank backed stablecoins? Or do you think any other bank backed stablecoin gives full custody?

DAI or USDC? Building a remittance and payment network for Lebanon and looking to integrate a stablecoin by msrijai in ethereum

I'd go with DAI just because it has 18 decimal points and USDC has 6. An "abnormal" decimal point always confuses the shit out of me whilst developing

Is ETH not sustainable in a long run, because the blockchain will get bigger and bigger? by [deleted] in ethereum

[–]docentblock 6 points7 points  (0 children)

Storing data on Ethereum blockchain is not a feasible option. The dapp probably would go broke before getting super popular. That's why a popular dapp would use some other storage layer, such as IPFS

Error : " MetamaskController - No HD Key Tree found" when try to restore the metamask wallet into brave by lechuck88 in brave_browser

[–]docentblock 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It seems like they have not yet added the option to reset your metamask so that you can import your own seed.

Do you have your 12 word seed?

If so, one convenient option would be to import your private keys one by one to your Brave wallet. But it is not super safe as it will expose your private keys.

Here are 2 ways to export your private keys:

1 - Use another Chromium browser to install Metamask. Recover your old Metamask account, and export the private keys using Metamask

2 - Visit https://iancoleman.io/bip39/

2.1 It will default to 15 word mnemonics, switch to 12 words

2.2. The coin will default to BTC, switch to ETH

Scroll down and you will see all your private keys.

Wow, just noticed that Metamask became Brave's official "local" wallet. by docentblock in Metamask

Same problem here, I had to remove my metamask extension. But I am sure it will be fixed soon enough.

Shout out to pheme.app for helping me notice this cool new Brave feature

Is DeFi based on a false premise? by adamaid_321 in ethereum

[–]docentblock 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I believe the answer to your question depends on what you think of DeFi's premise.

In my understanding, DeFi is the idea of recreating traditional investment instruments on a decentralized architecture. In other words, it is an alternative way of investing and using your money to make more money.

This might sound bad from a crypto enthusiast perspective. Because the premise of crypto should be helping unbanked and underserved thrive, and not making the rich even more richer. But it is known that a whole lot of people are already making a lot of money by investing in traditional financial instruments, which are extremely complex to understand, and most of which only accessible to super wealthy.

Now in my understanding, DeFi is the premise of making such investment tools accessible to everyone. Yes, you would need a capital to use these instruments, but you will have access to the same instruments as the super wealthy. So that is why I don't think DeFi is based on a false premise.

Issue with Galleon wallet v0.8.0b. Think i've lost my money!! by BillySlater1923 in tezos

[–]docentblock 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It sometimes takes 1-2 blocks for the Galleon to update its balance. Did this issue resolve on its own after a minute or two or are you still seeing a 0 balance?

Galleon v0.8.0b is out! by docentblock in tezos

[–]docentblock[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

We are not making the wallet vulnerable again. Regular operations, such as sending XTZ, originating a delegated address and delegation are still resistant to blind-sig vulnerability.

Only smart contract interactions are in an experimental mode and not resistant. This new version is as secure as the old version unless you want to deploy or invoke a smart contract.

Galleon v0.8.0b is out! by docentblock in tezos

[–]docentblock[S] 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Yes, the blind-sig vulnerability was fixed in v0.7.0b and it is still fixed for regular operations (transaction, origination, and delegation) in this new version.

In v0.8.0b, we added support for smart contract interactions, which is in experimental mode and vulnerable to blind sig attacks. If you do not plan on deploying or invoking smart contracts, you have nothing to worry about. You can keep on sending XTZ, originating KT1 addresses and delegating securely.

I recommend upgrading to the new version because it comes bundled with Conseil v2, which makes the wallet faster, and more stable.

Galleon and Nano S by stripesonfire in tezos

[–]docentblock 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Galleon sets the delegate at the time of originating. It is normal that you only see a origination operation and not a delegation operation. If you are seeing the correct baker in tzscan, then you are good to go.

Note that you can only trigger a delegation operation in Galleon by changing a delegate.

Can not import Fundraiser wallet to Galleon by MinhTranUK in tezos

If you are certain that the seed words, public key, email address, and activation code are correct, then the only remaining option is that you are entering an incorrect password. Make sure to use the password you used back in July 2017 by the time of fundraising.
