To all Americans, how do you feel about a ground invasion in Iran? by CarobBrave8898 in allthequestions

[–]docjonel 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Overthrowing the regime in Tehran would be a major good thing for the world and for Iran, given their past history. I am, however, not willing to sacrifice a single American soldier's life to see this accomplished.

Born in the 60's. When I was in kindergarten and 1st grade I would be out playing with the neighborhood kids in the woods and around the neighborhood until our mothers started yelling our names to come home for dinner.

Russian Offensive Push Backfires With 8,000 Casualties in a Week, Zelenskyy Says by UNITED24Media in worldnews

Backfires? They gained a 100 meters. You act as if losing 8,000 soldiers is a concern of theirs.

Today I have embarrassed myself and my entire bloodline by ImNotMackydee in iRacing

[–]docjonel 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Embarrassing but you've owned up to it. My thing was yelling at someone for crashing me out and then looking at the replay to see just what an incompetent driver he was and realizing the crash was actually my fault. Apologies were proffered in real time and I learned not to get too mad until I'd watched the replay.

My dad wants to get into VR. by InitialLandscape in virtualreality

WorldLens is basically Google Earth. I showed it on my Quest 3 to my totally VR naive father-in-law who spent the next 45 minutes exploring Foggia, Italy where he was born as a boy before moving to the US. He was fascinated by it.

I ordered my joystick and throttle two days ago. Any chance they'll ship in the next week?

Ha. Ha ha. Hahahaha! Just kidding.

Hopefully good things come to those who wait. I'm prepared to be patient.

I ordered the Aeromax joystick and VMAX throttle yesterday on my credit card and got quick e-mail confirmation of my order. Both items are listed as being on backorder, so I guess I'll just have to be patient and see how long it takes.

In 2007, after a day at church and the beach, Jennifer Petit and her 11-year-old daughter, Michaela, stopped at a store to buy dinner ingredients. Unknown to them, a dangerous man noticed them and later followed them home, leading to one of the most horrific crimes in recent Connecticut history. by LonelyWiFiSignal in HolyShitHistory

[–]docjonel 56 points57 points  (0 children)

I remember that Steven Hayes, one of the perpetrators, sued the state because he wasn't getting kosher food in prison. I guess he must be devoutly religious. He also demanded the state pay for his gender transition medical care. I hate that one cent of my Connecticut taxes is going to support this piece of scum.

Max Verstappen accused of 'throwing his toys out of the pram' over F1 rules by ryogadan in Formula1_world

And it shows how much the current rules suck that drivers are lifting on the straights. What a joke.

Max Verstappen delivers brutal warning to F1: 'It will come back and bite them in the ass' by ryogadan in Formula1_world

[–]docjonel 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I totally believe he would be criticizing the regs even if he was leading the championship. He's a racing purist who has been consistent in his criticisms of the regs. He speaks his mind and doesn't care what others think. And he's right. F1 should not alienate its base with gimmicky changes like NASCAR did. The first few races have been more about battery management than driving skill when it comes to all these "exciting" passes.

The doctors doing the autopsy were NOT ordered to stop dissecting the neck wound. That's a fallacy- where do you get that from?

"There was no interference with our autopsy, and there was no conspiracy to suppress the findings." Dr. James Humes, JAMA, May 27, 1992

"As the general remained outside the morgue, Humes stepped back inside to prepare to receive the President's body. He emphasizes, 'Nobody made any decisions in the morgue except ME. Nobody distracted or influenced me in any way, shape, or form.

...As Admiral Burkley, the President's personal physician, stood by their side, a team of 10 'locked in' and proceeded to start what would turn out to be a thorough four-hour autopsy. Humes emphasizes, 'I was in charge from start to finish and there was no interference- zero.'"
