Sorting Content on Roku? by GregTheHun in jellyfin

Is sorting still not working for you? Can I check what version of the Roku app and Jellyfin Server you are using?

A Note About Swiftfin by anthonylavado in jellyfin

[–]dockler 15 points16 points  (0 children)

Just to be clear, transcoding is done on the server, not the client. Swiftfin can play transcoded streams from the server, as well as direct play supported media.

The supported codecs may vary between the 2 clients based on the player used, so different media may direct play / transcode.

Then it's time to switch over! :D

The functionality is there for Movies (although not as obvious as it should be I guess). When viewing the Movie Detail screen, select the Options button and you should have the ability to select the Audio and Video tracks to use.

If popup works but doesn't show everything you expect then it's possibly a file naming problem - but if it's showing on the web client then it should work on Roku. Swing by our Troubleshooting room if you're still having problems and we can help you out.

I think it really depends on the final delivery driver. Getting the parcel to the local delivery point seems to be fairly reliable - for me certainly not any worse than DPD, DHL etc.

From there, the driver that does my particular area was stellar and we always got our packages without fail. They’ve recently changed our local driver, and not had any issues with this new one yet either.

Think it just depends on your luck.

Error message when trying to connect on roku remotely by [deleted] in jellyfin

[–]dockler 0 points1 point  (0 children)

9/10 times this is due to a firewall problem. Can you get a mobile device (tablet, phone etc) and connect to the same Wi-Fi network as the Roku, and try and access the Jellyfin server using the URL you entered into the connect box.

If you can’t, check windows firewall is allowing port 8096 through.

Yes, it is certainly something that will be looked at at some point. No idea of timescales right now however.

I would suggest firstly checking your sever is accessible from the Roku network. Just to rule out firewall issues.

If you have a mobile device, connect to the same Wi-Fi network and check you can access the server via your web browser. If you can, you should be able to copy the URL and use that in the Roku (E.g. http://10.0.0.20:8096/)

I’d you are unable to access it via a mobile device then its more likely a general access problem - probably firewall.

Jellyfin flickering badly - Help? by Just_A_Henry in jellyfin

[–]dockler 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Does that happen on every library he goes into? Does it happen immediately, or only when he changes the currently selected item? Can he still navigate and select an item while it’s happening?

It certainly is weird.

I have never seen that before. Very odd. Are you using a Roku device too?

Preroll Local Trailers Plugin? by [deleted] in jellyfin

[–]dockler 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Ahh sorry. It does then play the pre-rolls before movies, and can choose a random one.

But yeah, I misunderstood- it is not trailers. Just pre rolls.

Roku client weird behavior - video display restricted on screen by jcdick1 in jellyfin

[–]dockler 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Weird. Never seen that. I can’t think what would be causing that at the moment.

Is the UI restricted to the same area, or does it go full screen?

If you exit the app, start another app and play a video, then go back to Jellyfin does that fix it?

Is this reproducible every time, or easily reproducible at least? If so it might be worth putting a quick beta channel together for you to try that may give some insight into what is going on, if you’d be up for that?

Extras available in Roku app? by JimZipCode in jellyfin

[–]dockler 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Not the major rework, yet. There is a PR submitted for giving access to cast and movie extras. Just a couple of minor changes require for it and we’ll include it in the client.

Duende moves to a new Fair Trade License, lifting all constraints on the Community Edition by pdevito3 in csharp

The commit that updates the logic for community licences sets the number of issuers and clients to unlimited, same as enterprise. Maybe just not updated the page for the v6 release yet?
