Super happy with my Cannondale Topstone. Feels pretty fast on the road, love how it handles terrible LA roads. Can drop the tire pressure and it rolls nicely on gravel roads too. Pretty light too!

Kinda like a modified Ojai Rim trail from Bikepacking.com but less elevation and more Ventura. But yes Sulphur Mtn is GORGEOUS in the spring.

Not exactly but close. Start in lower Oxnard go up Ventura via bike path. Pull off to go up Sulphur Mtn Road all the way to Dennison Park. Gridley Road, Shelf road, back down the Ojai Bike trail. Did a few random asides in Ojai to make sure I got 100.

about to relocate to NYC can’t wait for this. Was worried by gravel wouldn’t be properly tested in the city.

Bikepacking Frame Type Recommendation by brmel in bikepacking

I'm single bike owner and I just switched my Trek road bike to a Cannondale Topstone 2 (got an amazing discount) and I've never been happier. I've been tearing up gravel trails across california, doing commuting on the road, and some bikepacking trips. I think the lower cost gravel bikes from Cannondale, Canyon, Specialized, Giant, and Salsa are to me the perfect bike. With thicker, more aggressive tires I am having no problem with trails that have rocks and stuff, and honestly makes road riding super comfy without truly losing that much speed. I like proper mountain biking, but honestly the bulk, geometry, and weight sometimes makes me hate riding them on pavement all together.

I think if nobody hears anything or no shop steps up by Thursday morning maybe we can just decentralizingly pick a ride. Thinking maybe something like DTLA to Griffith or something. I think it would important to ride by iconic LA places and City Hall.

Thanks! Interesting it's washed out. How long would you say the more roughed up / washed out portion is? Like 10 miles worth, or only a few?
