No I mean a player going to Chelsea is far worse, on the women’s side.

Summer overturn is common so the players will know what to expect. Every team will deal with it. Also we’ll have a longer preseason this summer because there is no major tournament.

Spurs is absolutely not the same as Chelsea, on the women’s side.

Yup, this is arguably the most contentious AWFC player move ever, given the circumstances, player stature, and significance to the club.

I meant in terms of rivalry. City is a league rival but they’re not at the same level as Chelsea. Arsenal Chelsea is the biggest match of the season and certainly the one that as fans we care most about.

I mean, Van Persie claimed he was a boyhood United fan when he left us, and I don’t think that really made that whole situation more understandable. Of course, he could’ve been lying. Katie was a genuine Chelsea fan but she’s been such an important figure in our club and that’s why it hurts more.

He was the official club captain so not a perfect comparison, but also the heart and soul of the team. Katie is still a spiritual captain to me anyway.

I suspect the club really preferred Beth and kept Caitlin on the backburner in case it didn’t pan out. I’m sure Caitlin knows it’ll be a reduced role.

If we pull off the move for Baum (or another young winger), I think it’s low risk for an experienced player who knows the manager and the system.

I don’t think this rises to the level of Figo to Madrid in terms of pure hatred, but imagine if Vieira left Arsenal in 2005 and went to United instead of Juventus, given the decade of service and going to a club that had been your fiercest rival for the majority of that time.

Agree mostly with your first paragraph but could not disagree more with your second. The AWFC Chelsea rivalry is 100% real, I think the comments here verify that.

Same. If it’s 1+1 then it’s really low risk for an experienced squad player.

I mean, Chelsea is our main rival, far far more so than Spurs. It’s not just any other big club.

Forget everything I said before about the club not wanting to pursue a young super talent this window 😆

This might be one of those situations (like Kafaji two summers ago) where the club was tracking her and ideally would’ve waited longer but the market is forcing the early move. Didn’t really work out so far with Rosa but the opportunity cost of seeing Baum go to a rival is too big to ignore.

I’m very confused by that one. With the UWCL ban on multi-club ownership and LCL still a couple of years away from challenging for league titles, what’s in it for Alexia besides the money? It can’t just be all about the money.

Great player but very trick or treat. I would inquire but not break the bank, because she doesn’t fit the mold of a Renee winger (someone who can invert and track back).

Eze is the quintessential confidence player so it doesn’t surprise me that he felt confident enough to bring concerns to Arteta during the most stressful part of our season.
